CV Format Qatar: Free Qatar CV Template and Samples
The CV format Qatar employers expect runs two pages, carries a photo, nationality and date of birth, and states your visa and QID status near the top. It is the opposite of an Australian or UK resume, which is why a template downloaded from a Western design site reads as incomplete in Doha. This page gives you the Qatar version, explains attestation and the Qatar Visa Centre, and covers the NOC rule that changed in 2020. Qarera's free Qatar CV templates parse cleanly through Bayt, NaukriGulf and GulfTalent and through Workday and SuccessFactors.

The short answer
The Qatar CV format is a two-page, single-column document in this order: contact details, personal details with a photo, nationality, date of birth and visa status, a short professional profile, work experience, education, licences and certifications, and languages. Two pages is normal here, and three is fine once you have a decade of certifications and project history behind you.
The same document goes by several names. A CV template Qatar recruiters recognise, a Qatar CV template, a Qatar resume format, a CV format for Qatar, a CV format for Qatar job applications, a cv qatar format - they all describe this structure. In Qatar “CV” is the universal word and “resume” is used only occasionally, so a Qatar resume and a Qatar CV mean the same file. If you are looking for a Qatar CV sample to work from, a Qatar CV example, a CV for Qatar job applications, or a Qatar CV format PDF you can open on a phone, this is the shape it should take. The Word file and the Qatar CV format Word download below are the same document in two formats.
What makes a CV in Qatar different from a Western one is what it deliberately includes. A photo, nationality, date of birth and often marital status are expected, and your visa position belongs near the top - whether you hold a QID and a transferable residence permit, are on a visit visa, or would need sponsorship from outside the country. That single line tells the employer what hiring you costs and how long it takes, and it is frequently why one shortlisted candidate is chosen over another.
Three practical things sit behind the document. Attestation: your degree certificates must be attested through your home country and the Qatari embassy before a work permit is issued, and it takes weeks. The Qatar Visa Centre: if you are applying from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Indonesia or Tunisia, your medical, biometrics and contract signing happen in your own country before you fly. The NOC: Qatar removed the No Objection Certificate requirement for changing employers in 2020, so a great deal of the advice still circulating on this point is simply out of date.
The mistake that costs people interviews is sending a Western-format resume into Qatar, or sending the Qatar version to Australia. They are near-opposites: the photo and personal details that make a CV read as complete in Doha are the same fields that get it discarded in Sydney or London. Build the Gulf version for Qatar and keep a stripped copy for everywhere else - the sections below cover both.

Qatar CV formats by sector
Each one is a CV format for jobs in Qatar written in English, including a cabin crew format for first-time applicants and a one-page version for drivers and trades. Pick by where the application is going - the airline, an energy contractor, a hospital, a bank or a hotel - because the resume format for Qatar jobs genuinely differs between them.
Aviation & Cabin Crew
Best for: Qatar Airways cabin crew, ground staff, Hamad International Airport roles and aviation engineering - including first-time applicants with no airline experience
Structure: Contact → Personal Details (with photo) → Profile → Work Experience → Education → Languages → Certifications → Visa Status
Cabin crew is the single largest first-job route into Qatar and the screen is unusually concrete, so write to it. Qatar Airways publishes its minimum requirements - at least 21 years old, a minimum arm reach of 212 cm on tiptoes, minimum height around 160 cm, secondary education completed, and fluency in written and spoken English - and an open day will check them in person. State your height and reach plainly in the personal details block rather than making a recruiter ask, list every language with an honest level because multilingual crew are hired specifically for it, and treat any customer-facing work as directly relevant experience: retail, hospitality, call centre and nursing all transfer. A fresher CV is expected here, so do not apologise for having no aviation history.
Use this formatEnergy, Engineering & Construction
Best for: QatarEnergy, the LNG expansion projects, the EPC contractors, and site, mechanical, electrical, civil and QA/QC roles
Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Profile → Certifications & Tickets → Work Experience → Projects → Education → Visa Status
Qatar hires heavily into energy and infrastructure and the screen runs on certifications and project names, not job titles. Put the tickets above the work history with the awarding body and expiry date, name the standards and codes you have actually worked to, and list projects with the client, the contract value and your specific scope. Attested degree certificates matter more here than in most sectors because the employer needs them for the work-permit file, so state that yours are attested or in progress. If you hold a Qatari or GCC driving licence, say so.
Use this formatHealthcare & Nursing
Best for: Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Medicine, the Primary Health Care Corporation and the private hospitals and clinics
Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Profile → Licences & Registration → Clinical Experience → Education → Certifications → Visa Status
Healthcare in Qatar runs through the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners, and the licensing route is the thing your CV has to make easy to assess. Give your home-country registration number and expiry, state where you are in the QCHP process, and note that primary source verification is handled through DataFlow - which takes time, so starting it early is worth saying. Specify your clinical area, patient load, unit type and bed count rather than writing "provided patient care", and give BLS, ACLS, PALS and any speciality certification with dates. This is one of the largest inbound corridors into Qatar from India, the Philippines and Kenya.
Use this formatBanking, Finance & Professional Services
Best for: Qatar National Bank, the Qatar Financial Centre firms, the Big Four, insurance and the corporate finance teams
Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Profile → Work Experience (with QAR figures) → Education → Professional Qualifications → Visa Status
Finance hiring in Qatar reads qualification and jurisdiction together, so name the professional stack precisely - ACCA, CPA, CFA, CIMA or ICAI - with the membership status and year, and say which reporting standards you have worked under. Quantify in QAR where the work was done in Qatar and in your home currency otherwise, labelling both, since the riyal is pegged at 3.64 to the US dollar and a reader will convert. Qatarization targets apply in parts of banking and the state-linked employers, so expect Qatari nationals to be prioritised for some roles and treat that as a fact about the market rather than a reflection on your application.
Use this formatHospitality, Retail & Customer Service
Best for: Hotels, F&B, malls, events, and the customer-facing roles across Doha, West Bay, Lusail and Msheireb
Structure: Contact → Personal Details (with photo) → Profile → Work Experience → Languages → Skills → Certifications → Visa Status
Hospitality is the second-largest entry route into Qatar and the CV is read fast, so make the operational facts easy to find: property type, star rating, covers per shift, team size, brands worked for, and the systems you know - Opera, Micros, Fidelio. Languages carry real commercial weight because guests and colleagues come from everywhere, so list them with honest levels. A photo is expected and normal here. If you already hold a QID and a transferable visa, put it near the top, because it removes cost and delay for the employer and is frequently the reason one shortlisted candidate is chosen over another.
Use this formatDrivers, Trades & Site Roles
Best for: Light and heavy vehicle drivers, technicians, electricians, plumbers, welders, storekeepers, security and camp-based roles
Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Profile → Licences & Certificates → Work Experience → Equipment → Education → Visa Status
A CV format for driver in Qatar roles is a different document from an office CV and gets read in under a minute, so lead with the licence: category, issuing country, whether it is a Qatari or GCC licence, and the years held. A driver CV format Qatar employers can act on also names vehicle types driven, routes, load types and any clean-record or defensive-driving certificate. For trades, name the tickets and the equipment. Keep it to one page, keep it single column, and put your contact number in a form that works on WhatsApp, because that is where the callback comes from.
Use this formatQatar CV vs US resume: what's different
Photo, nationality, visa status and attestation - the differences that decide whether a CV reads as complete in Doha or as a liability in New York. Every field in the left column is one to delete before you apply outside the Gulf.

Open the Qatar CV BuilderThe Qatar fields international templates leave out
Visa status, the QID, attestation and the Qatar Visa Centre have no equivalent in a Western resume, which is why a template downloaded from a US design site is missing the things a Doha recruiter needs to know first.
Visa status and QID
The QID is the Qatar ID issued with a residence permit, and your visa position is one of the first things a Qatari employer looks for. State it in one plain line near the top: whether you hold a valid QID and a transferable residence permit, are on a visit visa, or are applying from outside the country and would need sponsorship. Being already in Qatar on a transferable visa removes real cost and delay for the employer and is frequently the difference between two otherwise similar shortlisted candidates - so if it applies to you, do not bury it on page two.
The NOC rule - and what changed in 2020
This is the single most commonly out-of-date fact on CV and job advice about Qatar. Historically a worker needed a No Objection Certificate from their current employer to move to a new one. Qatar removed that requirement in 2020 under the labour reforms, so you can change employers without your current sponsor’s consent, subject to giving proper notice - one month within the first two years of service and two months after that. Plenty of older guides, forum posts and even some recruiters still say an NOC is mandatory. It is not. Know the current rule before you let it stop you applying, and check the Ministry of Labour for the detail of your own case.
Attestation of certificates
Your degree and professional certificates have to be attested before a work permit is issued, and the chain runs through your home country - the issuing university or board, then the relevant ministry, then your Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the Qatari embassy, and finally the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs on arrival. It takes weeks rather than days and it is the most common cause of a delayed start date. It is not a CV field, but stating "degree certificates attested" or "attestation in progress" in one line saves a round of email and signals that you have done this before.
Qatar Visa Centres
If you are applying from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Indonesia or Tunisia, much of the pre-departure process runs through a Qatar Visa Centre in your own country: the medical examination, biometrics and signing the employment contract all happen before you fly, rather than on arrival in Doha. That is a genuine protection - you see the contract terms in your home country before you commit. Read the contract at that stage against what the recruiter told you, because the version you sign at the visa centre is the one that governs the job.
Photo, nationality and personal details
A Gulf CV carries what a Western resume deliberately omits: a professional photo, nationality, date of birth and often marital status. This is the exact opposite of the advice given for Australia, the UK and Canada, and it is why a template downloaded from a US design site reads as incomplete to a Doha recruiter. Use a plain, recent headshot with a neutral background. Keep the block compact, near the top, and keep a second version of the file with all of it removed for any application outside the region.
Salary, allowances and gratuity
Qatari packages are quoted as a basic salary plus housing and transport allowances rather than one gross number, and income is not taxed - so a figure from home does not compare directly and neither does a figure from another Gulf state. Ask what is basic and what is allowance, because end-of-service gratuity is calculated on basic pay. Qatar also introduced a non-discriminatory minimum wage in 2021 of QAR 1,000 a month, plus QAR 500 for food and QAR 300 for accommodation where the employer does not provide them. The riyal is pegged at 3.64 to the US dollar, which makes conversion straightforward.
Qatarization
Qatarization is the national policy of increasing the share of Qatari nationals in the workforce, and it applies most strongly in the energy sector, government and parts of banking. In practice it means some roles are prioritised for or reserved for Qatari nationals, and that expatriate hiring in those areas concentrates on skills that are genuinely scarce locally. It is worth understanding as a fact about where the openings are rather than as an obstacle: it shapes which sectors and which levels are realistically open to you, and it is a good reason to target specialist, certified and hard-to-fill roles rather than general ones.
Writing tips for Qatar CVs
Six things that separate a CV for Qatar job applications that gets a callback from the generic one most applicants send.
Put your visa status in the first six lines
Whether you hold a QID and a transferable residence permit, are on a visit visa, or are applying from abroad and would need sponsorship is the single most useful fact you can give a Qatari employer, because it tells them what hiring you costs and how long it takes. Candidates already in Qatar on a transferable visa are routinely preferred for exactly that reason. State it plainly in one line in the personal details block rather than leaving a recruiter to guess or to ask.
Include the photo and personal details - this is not the market to omit them
A professional photo, nationality and date of birth are expected on a Gulf CV and their absence is noticed. Use a plain, recent headshot with a neutral background and business dress. This runs directly against the advice given for Australia, the UK, Ireland and Canada, and that is the point: the two formats are near-opposites, and applying to both with one file means one of them is wrong. Keep a stripped version saved alongside the Gulf one.
Lead with licences and certifications, not job titles
Across energy, construction, healthcare, aviation and driving, the certification is most of the screen. Put the licence or ticket above the work history with the awarding body, the number and the expiry date, and name the standards and codes you have actually worked to. For clinical roles state your home registration and where you are in the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners process; for site roles name the equipment. A job title tells a Doha recruiter far less than a current, verifiable ticket.
Say that your certificates are attested
Attestation of degree and professional certificates through your home country and the Qatari embassy is required before a work permit is issued, and it is the most common cause of a delayed start. It is not a CV field as such, but one line - "degree certificates attested" or "attestation in progress" - saves a round of email and tells the recruiter you have been through this before. Start the process as soon as an offer looks likely rather than after you sign.
List every language, honestly
Qatar’s workplaces are among the most multilingual anywhere, and the languages section is genuinely read rather than skimmed. English is the working default; Arabic is a real advantage and required for some public-facing and government roles; and Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog, Nepali and Bengali all have practical value depending on the team. Give a level you can defend in an interview - conversational, professional working, native - because it is the easiest claim in the document to test.
Keep it single-column and table-free
Bayt, NaukriGulf and GulfTalent parse uploads with their own parsers, and the large employers run Workday, SuccessFactors, Taleo and Oracle. Tables, columns and text boxes are what most often cause a parser to drop content silently - a two-column "modern" CV can lose your whole work history invisibly. Name the file properly too, because Gulf applications travel by email and WhatsApp as often as through a portal: "Rajesh_Kumar_CV_Qatar.pdf", not "cv final 2.pdf".
Applying to Qatar from your country
Most people reading this page are applying into Qatar rather than from it, and the practical route differs by where you are. If you are in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines or Indonesia, your medical, biometrics and contract signing run through a Qatar Visa Centre in your own country before you fly - read the contract at that stage, because that is the version that governs the job. Wherever you are applying from, the CV itself needs the Gulf treatment: photo, nationality, date of birth and visa status in, and any local convention your home format carries - a signed declaration, a national ID number, referees listed in full - taken out. Start from your own country's format, then convert:
