Fresher hiring runs at volume. A campus drive or an off-campus posting on Naukri or Internshala can attract thousands of applications for a handful of seats, so the first pass is mechanical: degree and branch, aggregate percentage or CGPA, year of passing, and whether you clear the eligibility bar. Get those four facts into the top third of the page in a form a screener can read in seconds.

The second filter is the backlog and gap check. Most Indian IT and campus recruiters set an explicit cut-off - commonly 60% or 6.0 CGPA across 10th, 12th and graduation - and ask for no active backlogs. If you are clear, write "No active backlogs" plainly; it removes a question rather than leaving a screener to assume the worst. If you have a gap year or a dropped semester, give it one honest line rather than hoping it goes unnoticed.

The third filter is whether anything on the page is actually yours. Every fresher resume lists the same course subjects and the same soft skills, so what separates candidates is a final-year or mini project you can explain in an interview, an internship however short, and a skill stated at a level you can defend. One project described with what you built, the stack, and a number beats ten lines of coursework.

One thing worth saying plainly, because it is the most common question here. Career objective or summary (2-3 lines). Name your degree, branch, year of passing and the role you want, plus one specific thing you bring. "B.Tech (Computer Science, 2026) with 8.2 CGPA, seeking a software engineer role; built a Django-based attendance system used by 300 students in my department" beats "seeking a challenging position in a reputed organisation where I can utilise my skills."

Education. The most important section on a fresher resume. List graduation, 12th and 10th with the institution, board or university, year of passing, and your CGPA or percentage - state the scale, because CGPA out of 10 is standard in India and gets misread as a 4-point scale by international readers. Add "No active backlogs" if true.

Projects. For a fresher with no experience this is the experience section. Give two or three with the problem, what you built, the stack, your specific contribution if it was a team project, and an outcome or number. Link the GitHub repository.

Internships and training. Any internship, industrial training, or virtual internship counts - Internshala, a college-arranged training, a TCS iON or Forage programme. Name the organisation, duration, and what you actually produced.

Technical skills. Group them: languages, frameworks, tools, databases. Achievements and activities. Hackathon placements, coding-contest ranks, scholarships, positions of responsibility, NSS or NCC, sports at state level. These are genuine differentiators when everyone's marks look alike.

Declaration (optional). Still conventional in India for government and traditional employers, unnecessary for IT and startups. One line and a signature if you include it.
