CV Format in Pakistan: Pakistani CV Samples and Free Templates
A standard Pakistani CV runs two to three pages, opens with a Personal Information block carrying Father's Name, CNIC and domicile, lists all four education levels with matric and intermediate marks and percentages, and closes with named references and a signed declaration. Qarera's free Pakistan templates parse cleanly through the Rozee.pk parser and the applicant tracking systems used by the multinationals, banks and IT exporters.

The short answer
The standard CV format in Pakistan is a two-page, single-column document in this order: contact details, personal information, career objective, education covering Master or Bachelor with CGPA plus Intermediate and Matriculation with marks and percentage, work experience, certifications, skills, languages, and named references, closing with a declaration and signature. One page is right only for the IT and software-export segment.
You will see the same document called a Pakistan CV template, a curriculum vitae format in Pakistan, a CV pattern in Pakistan, or a CV specimen in Pakistan - and the resume format in Pakistan means the same thing again. They all describe this. If you are looking for a CV Pakistan sample, a Pakistan CV sample, or a professional CV format in Pakistan, the fields below decide the outcome rather than the styling.
One detail causes more real-world trouble than any other: write your name and Father's Name exactly as they appear on your CNIC. Degrees, documents and the CNIC are cross-checked at onboarding, and a difference in spelling or name order creates genuine delays.

Pakistani CV formats by sector
Each is a two-to-three-page CV template Pakistan employers recognise, including a simple CV format Pakistan students can use and a CV for teacher job in Pakistan applications. Pick by sector - fresh graduate and MT, teaching, banking, IT, engineering, or Gulf and overseas.
Fresh Graduate / Management Trainee
Best for: MT and graduate programme applicants at Engro, Unilever Pakistan, Nestlé Pakistan, P&G, Packages, and graduates of LUMS, IBA Karachi, NUST, FAST, GIKI, UET and the public universities
Structure: Contact → Personal Information → Career Objective → Education (with CGPA and marks) → Internships → Certifications → Skills → Languages → References
Management trainee schemes are the most competitive graduate hiring in Pakistan and they screen on institution and CGPA before a human reads a word, so education goes above experience. List all four levels - Master or Bachelor with CGPA out of 4.00, then Intermediate and Matriculation with marks obtained over total and the percentage, because Pakistani boards report marks rather than grades and recruiters read the percentage directly. Internships and case-competition results carry real weight here.
Use this formatTeaching & Education (Pakistan)
Best for: School, college and university teaching posts, plus academic coordinator and subject-specialist roles across the private school networks and public sector
Structure: Contact → Personal Information → Career Objective → Education (all levels) → Teaching Experience (with subjects, grades and board) → Certifications (B.Ed, M.Ed, CPD) → Skills → References
Teaching is one of the largest single CV categories in Pakistan and it screens differently from corporate roles. Name the subjects and the grade levels you have taught, the board or curriculum (Federal, Punjab, Sindh, Cambridge / O and A Level, IB), class sizes and any results improvement you drove. B.Ed and M.Ed are frequently hard requirements rather than nice-to-haves, so put them where they are found immediately, and note any CPD or teacher-training certification.
Use this formatBanking & Islamic Banking
Best for: Roles at HBL, MCB, UBL, Bank Alfalah, Meezan Bank, Faysal Bank and the Islamic banking windows, plus microfinance and the SBP-regulated institutions
Structure: Contact → Personal Information → Career Objective → Education → Work Experience (with PKR figures) → Professional Qualifications (ACCA, ICAP, CFA, IBP) → Skills → References
Banking screens on qualification and quantified results together. State your professional progress precisely - "ACCA, 11 of 13 papers passed", "CA (ICAP) - Certificate in Accounting and Finance completed", "CFA Level II candidate" - rather than "pursuing ACCA". For Islamic banking roles, name your Shariah-compliance exposure and any AAOIFI or Islamic finance certification explicitly, because that is a genuine differentiator in a fast-growing segment.
Use this formatIT & Software Export
Best for: Software engineers, QA, data and product roles at Systems Ltd, NetSol, Arbisoft, Careem, Daraz, Bykea and the large remote-contract and outsourcing employers
Structure: Contact → Professional Summary → Technical Skills → Work Experience → Projects → Education → Certifications → GitHub / Portfolio
Pakistan has a large IT export sector and this segment has moved to the Western resume: no personal information block, no CNIC, no photo, no declaration, and one to two pages. Lead with the stack for keyword matching and put GitHub and a portfolio link in the contact line. Much of this work is remote for US and European clients, so write for a reader who does not know your university, and convert PKR figures where relevant.
Use this formatEngineering (PEC registered)
Best for: Civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical and industrial engineering roles across construction, energy, manufacturing and the public-sector projects
Structure: Contact → Personal Information → PEC Registration → Career Objective → Work Experience (with project value and scope) → Education → Certifications → Technical Skills → References
Pakistan Engineering Council registration is required for engineering positions and CVs from non-registered candidates are frequently not considered at all, so your PEC registration number belongs near the top rather than in a certifications list at the end. Name the projects with value and scope, the software you actually use (AutoCAD, Primavera, ETABS, SAP2000), and any HSE certification. State your registration status plainly if you are in process.
Use this formatGulf & Overseas Employment
Best for: Applicants targeting the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman, plus Europe-bound applicants using the Europass format
Structure: Contact → Personal Information (with passport and visa status) → Professional Summary → Work Experience → Education → Certifications → Languages → References
A very large share of Pakistani job-seeking is outbound, and the Gulf keeps the fuller CV while adding to it - nationality, passport number and expiry, visa or NOC status and a photo are all expected, which is the opposite of UK and Australian advice. State availability and notice period plainly and put any existing GCC experience near the top. For Europe, use the Europass format instead and give equivalence for Pakistani qualifications a European recruiter will not recognise.
Use this formatPakistani CV vs US resume: what's different
The personal information block, all four education levels, marks-based reporting and named references - the differences that decide whether a CV reads as complete in Pakistan.
| 🇵🇰 Pakistan | 🇺🇸 United States |
|---|---|
| Two to three pages is standard and expected | One page unless 10+ years |
| "CV" is the default word; "resume" used mainly by the IT segment | Resume for corporate, CV for academia |
| Personal Information block: Father's Name, CNIC, Date of Birth, Domicile, Marital Status | Protected characteristics omitted entirely |
| Name and Father's Name must match the CNIC exactly | No equivalent |
| Passport-size photo expected outside the IT segment | Never include a photo |
| All four levels listed: Master/Bachelor, Intermediate, Matriculation | Highest degree only, school results never listed |
| Matric and Intermediate reported as marks obtained over total, plus percentage | GPA out of 4.00 only |
| Domicile stated - it matters for quota-based and public-sector posts | No equivalent |
| Named references with designation and phone number | References omitted entirely |
| Declaration sentence and signature close the CV | No equivalent |

Open the Pakistan CV BuilderPersonal information and results: what to include
Pakistani practice is settled on most of these and shifting on the CNIC. Here is the field-by-field position, including the one that causes the most trouble at onboarding.
Name and Father's Name
Write both exactly as they appear on your CNIC, including spelling and the order of names. This is not a formality: your documents, degrees and CNIC are cross-checked at onboarding and a mismatch between "Muhammad Bilal Ahmed" on the CV and a different rendering on the CNIC causes genuine delays. Father's Name is expected across banking, government, teaching and traditional corporates, and is dropped by the IT segment.
CNIC number
Standard on the personal information block for banking, government, teaching and most traditional employers, where it is used for verification. Current guidance for students and for CVs circulated widely is to leave it off and provide it when asked - it is a national identifier and a CV is a document you deliberately spread. Include it where an application form or advertisement requires it; drop it for a public Rozee.pk profile.
Domicile
Worth including and often overlooked. Domicile matters for quota-based recruitment in the public sector and for some provincial and federal posts, so stating it plainly ("Domicile: Lahore, Punjab") can make you visibly eligible for a post you would otherwise have to be asked about. It carries no downside in the private sector, where it simply reads as a conventional field.
Matriculation and Intermediate results
List both with marks obtained over total and the percentage - "912/1050 (86.9%), BISE Lahore, 2014" - because Pakistani boards report marks rather than letter grades and recruiters read the percentage directly. Name the board. Keep these for the first several years of your career, since management trainee schemes and public-sector posts ask for them regardless of your degree, then compress once experience accumulates. The IT segment omits them.
Degree CGPA and division
University results are CGPA out of 4.00 at most private and newer public universities, and division or percentage at some older public universities. State which scale you are using so it cannot be misread, and give the division where that is how your university reports. Management trainee schemes filter on this before any human review, so it belongs on the same line as the degree rather than in a footnote.
Professional registration
Named precisely and with your actual level. PEC registration is required for engineering roles and CVs from non-registered candidates are frequently not considered, so it belongs near the top. For finance, "ACCA - 11 of 13 papers passed" or "CA (ICAP) - CAF completed" says exactly where you are where "pursuing ACCA" says nothing. PMDC for doctors, PBC for lawyers, and B.Ed or M.Ed for teaching are checked the same way.
Photograph
Expected across banking, government, teaching and traditional corporates, and dropped by the IT firms and the remote-contract employers. Where required, use a plain-background formal photo. When an advertisement is silent and the employer is a traditional local one, including it is the safer default - the opposite of what American resume sites advise.
Writing tips for Pakistani CVs
Six things that separate a professional CV format in Pakistan recruiters shortlist from the simple CV format in Pakistan most people send. CV writing in Pakistan rewards precision about credentials more than design.
Match your name and Father's Name to the CNIC exactly
This causes more real-world trouble than any other field. Degrees, board certificates, the CNIC and your CV are cross-checked at onboarding, and a difference in spelling, an extra "Muhammad", or a different name order creates genuine delays and occasionally forces re-issuance of documents. Copy the CNIC rendering character for character, and use the same rendering consistently across your CV, cover letter and application forms.
Report matric and intermediate the way boards do
Give marks obtained over total plus the percentage and name the board - "912/1050 (86.9%), BISE Lahore, 2014". Pakistani boards report marks rather than letter grades and recruiters read the percentage directly, so converting to a foreign scale just makes a screener work harder. Keep both levels for the first several years, because management trainee schemes and public-sector posts ask for them regardless of your degree.
Put PEC registration near the top for engineering roles
Pakistan Engineering Council registration is required for engineering positions and CVs from non-registered candidates are frequently not considered at all, so a registration number buried in a certifications list at the end is a genuine risk. Put it in or immediately under the personal information block. If registration is in process, say so with the expected date rather than omitting it, because a screener who cannot find it assumes it is absent.
Name your qualification level, not your intention
"ACCA - 11 of 13 papers passed", "CA (ICAP) - Certificate in Accounting and Finance completed", "CFA Level II candidate", "B.Ed completed 2022" each tell a recruiter exactly where you are and when you qualify. "Pursuing ACCA" tells them nothing and loses to candidates with identical progress who were specific. For Islamic banking, name your Shariah-compliance exposure and any AAOIFI certification explicitly - it is a real differentiator in a fast-growing segment.
Lead with subjects, boards and results for teaching roles
Teaching is one of the largest CV categories in Pakistan and it screens on specifics that corporate advice ignores. Name the subjects and grade levels taught, the board or curriculum (Federal, Punjab, Sindh, Cambridge O and A Level, IB), class sizes, and any measurable results improvement. B.Ed and M.Ed are frequently hard requirements rather than preferences, so put them where they are found in seconds, and add any CPD or teacher-training certification.
Match the segment, not the job title
Pakistan runs two live CV conventions at once. Banking, government, teaching, engineering and traditional corporates expect the full format: personal information with Father's Name and CNIC, photo, all four education levels, declaration and signature. The IT and software-export employers - Systems Ltd, NetSol, Arbisoft, Careem, Daraz - have moved to the Western resume, and the full block works against you there. Decide which document you are writing first, and keep both versions.
Applying abroad from Pakistan
The two big destinations pull in opposite directions. The Gulf keeps the fuller CV and adds passport, visa status and a photo. Europe wants Europass, with the CNIC, domicile, photo and declaration all stripped out - and Europass is by some distance the most-requested international format among Pakistani job seekers.
