CV Template Indonesia: English CV Format and Free Samples

A standard Indonesian CV runs two to three pages, carries a photo and personal details, states IPK out of 4,00, and closes with a signed declaration. An English CV for a multinational, or for a job in Australia or Singapore, needs most of that removed. This page gives you both versions and tells you which fields to delete for each. Qarera's free Indonesia CV templates parse cleanly through JobStreet, Glints and Kalibrr and through Workday and SuccessFactors.

The short answer

The standard CV format in Indonesia is a two-page, single-column document in this order: contact details, personal details, career objective, education with IPK out of 4,00, work experience or magang, organisational experience, skills, certifications, and a signed declaration. A photo is expected. One page with no photo is right only for the Jakarta tech segment.

You will see the same document called a CV template Indonesia employers recognise, a curriculum vitae format Indonesia, a CV format Indonesia, or simply format CV Indonesia - they all describe this structure. If you are looking for a curriculum vitae Indonesia template, a CV Indonesia template you can edit, a sample CV Indonesia to work from, or a CV PDF Indonesia recruiters can open on a phone, this is the shape it should take. The CV template Word Indonesia file and the PDF below are the same document in two formats.

You will also see these written in Indonesian word order, with the adjective after the noun - CV simple Indonesia, CV formal Indonesia, CV modern Indonesia. They describe three choices of the same document: a clean single-column layout, a conservative one for banking and government, and a lightly styled one for creative roles. All three should carry the same fields; only the styling changes.

Searches for a template CV ATS friendly Indonesia, a template CV ATS Indonesia or a CV ATS template Indonesia all point at one requirement: single column, no tables, no text boxes, no images behind text. That is what decides whether JobStreet, Glints, Kalibrr, Workday or SuccessFactors can read the file at all, and it matters far more than which of the three styles you pick.

Three local terms are worth knowing: IPK is your cumulative GPA out of 4,00 and it is the most-screened field on a fresh-graduate CV; magang is an internship; and S1 is the four-year bachelor degree, with D3 the three-year diploma and SMA or SMK the secondary-school levels.

The most expensive mistake is sending the domestic version abroad. The photo, date of birth, religion, marital status and signed declaration that make a CV read as complete in Jakarta are the same fields that get it discarded in Sydney or Singapore. Build the Indonesian version for Indonesian employers, then strip it for everywhere else - the sections below cover both.

Indonesian CV formats by sector

Each is a CV template for Indonesia written in English, including a fresh graduate CV for S1 and D3 applicants and a version built for applying abroad. Pick by where the application is going - a management trainee scheme, a Jakarta multinational, a startup, or Australia - because the right format genuinely differs between them.

Fresh Graduate (S1 & D3)

Best for: Fresh graduate applicants from UI, ITB, UGM, IPB, ITS, Binus, Telkom University, Unair, Unpad, Undip and Brawijaya, and D3 diploma holders applying for their first role

Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Career Objective → Education (with IPK) → Internship / Magang → Organisational Experience → Skills → Certifications

Fresh graduate hiring in Indonesia screens on IPK before it reads anything else, so put it in the education block as a number out of 4.00 with the major and university named in full. Most large employers set a floor at 3.00 and many state it in the advert. Treat magang as real work with the company, division, dates and what you produced. Organisational experience - BEM, himpunan, a committee role in a campus event - is genuinely read in Indonesia rather than dismissed as filler, because for a fresh graduate it is the only evidence of leading anything.

Management Trainee (MT) Programmes

Best for: Astra International, Unilever Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, BCA, BRI, Telkom, Sinar Mas and the other large graduate intake schemes

Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Career Objective → Education (IPK first) → Leadership & Organisational Experience → Internship → Achievements → Skills

The MT route is the main graduate entry path into Indonesian corporates and it is a different screen from a normal job application. IPK thresholds are hard, age limits are usually stated, and there is real weight on demonstrated leadership - so BEM and himpunan positions, committee chairmanships and competition placings belong high on the page rather than at the bottom. Willingness to be placed anywhere in Indonesia is often an explicit condition, so state it plainly if it is true. Expect assessment centres and psikotes after the CV screen.

English CV for Multinationals in Jakarta

Best for: Roles at Unilever, Nestlé, P&G, Shell, the Big Four, the international banks and any employer whose advert and interview run in English

Structure: Contact → Professional Summary → Core Skills → Work Experience → Education (IPK) → Certifications → Languages

When the advertisement is written in English, the CV should be too, and it should be trimmed towards the international convention: drop religion and marital status, drop the signed declaration, and lead with a professional summary rather than a career objective. Keep IPK, because the local hiring team still reads it. State your English level with evidence - an IELTS or TOEFL score, or "daily working language for 3 years" - since fluency claims are checked quickly in the first interview.

Technology & Startup (Jakarta)

Best for: Engineering, data, product, design and growth roles at GoTo, Traveloka, Blibli, Bukalapak, Xendit, Grab Indonesia and the remote-first employers hiring out of Jakarta

Structure: Contact → Professional Summary → Technical Skills → Work Experience → Projects → Education → GitHub / Portfolio

The Jakarta tech segment has adopted the Western resume almost completely: one to two pages, no photo, no personal details, no declaration, and skills stated up front for keyword matching. Put GitHub, GitLab or a portfolio link in the contact line. Many of these roles are remote contracts for Singaporean, Australian or US employers, so write for a reader who does not know your university and quantify in a way that survives translation - users, latency, uptime, revenue - rather than relying on the employer brand being recognised.

Banking, Finance & Accounting

Best for: Bank Mandiri, BCA, BRI, BNI, CIMB Niaga, the multifinance companies, the Big Four and corporate finance teams

Structure: Contact → Personal Details → Professional Summary → Work Experience (with IDR figures) → Education (IPK) → Professional Qualifications → Certifications

Finance hiring reads IPK, university and qualification together, and it is one of the few sectors where the local professional stack should be named precisely: CPA Indonesia, CA Indonesia and IAI membership, Brevet A/B for tax, plus ACCA or CFA where you have them. Quantify in IDR and write the figures out - "Rp 4,2 miliar" or "IDR 4.2 billion" - rather than leaving a bare number that could be read at the wrong scale. Banks also check SKCK and BI checking early, so a clean record stated plainly saves a round.

Working Abroad: Australia, Singapore & the Gulf

Best for: Indonesians applying overseas - the Work and Holiday visa to Australia, professional roles in Singapore and Malaysia, and the Gulf

Structure: Contact → Professional Summary → Work Experience → Education → Certifications → Languages → Visa Status

This is the version that most Indonesian applicants get wrong, because they send the domestic CV abroad. For Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and the UK you must remove the photo, date of birth, religion, marital status, KTP number and the signed declaration - all of them are either ignored or treated as a discrimination risk, and Australian recruiters read them as a sign the applicant does not know the market. Convert IPK to a form the reader understands, name the destination visa you hold or are eligible for, and put it near the top. The Gulf is the exception and works more like the Indonesian format: photo, nationality and visa status are all expected there.

Fresh graduate CVs by education level

The advice genuinely differs by level, and adverts screen on it directly. Pick the one that matches the qualification you actually hold.

CV Fresh Graduate S1

The four-year bachelor degree, and the level most graduate schemes are written for. Lead with IPK out of 4,00 next to the jurusan and university, then magang, then organisational experience. Name the thesis only if it is relevant to the role. Most management trainee programmes set a floor at IPK 3,00 and state an age limit, so check both before spending an evening on the application. If your IPK sits below the line, put a strong internship result or a competition placing immediately after the education block rather than leaving the reader with only the number.

CV Fresh Graduate D3 and D4

The applied diploma routes - D3 at three years, D4 at four and equivalent to S1 for most hiring purposes. Write the level explicitly, because an advert asking for D3 will accept it and an advert asking for S1 usually will not. D3 programmes carry more practical hours than S1, so lead with what you operated, built or maintained, and name the equipment, software and standards by name. For technical and manufacturing roles that specificity beats a higher IPK from a general degree.

CV Fresh Graduate SMA and SMK

SMA is the general secondary stream and SMK the vocational one, and the difference matters more than most applicants expect: a large number of technical, manufacturing, retail and administrative adverts ask for SMK specifically, and some name the jurusan - SMK Teknik Mesin, SMK Akuntansi. State the stream and the jurusan rather than writing "high school". Without a degree, the CV is carried by praktik kerja lapangan (PKL), any certification you hold, and part-time or family-business work described concretely. One page is enough at this level, and a clean single-column layout beats a decorated one.

Teaching roles

A CV guru fresh graduate applicants send should name the subject and the jenjang taught - SD, SMP or SMA - along with the school, and state any PPG progress and teaching-practice placement explicitly. Sekolah and yayasan screen on subject match and jenjang first, so both belong in the first third of the page rather than buried in a general education block.

Indonesian CV vs US resume: what's different

Photo, personal details, IPK and the signed declaration - the differences that decide whether a CV reads as complete in Jakarta or as a liability in Sydney. Every field in the left column is one to delete before you apply abroad.

The Indonesian fields international templates leave out

IPK, the S1/D3 ladder, SKCK and the signed declaration have no equivalent in a Western resume, which is why a template downloaded from a US design site is missing the fields Indonesian employers screen on.

IPK (Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif)

Your cumulative GPA on a 4.00 scale, and the single most-screened field on an Indonesian fresh-graduate CV. Write it as "IPK 3,45 / 4,00" with the major and university named in full. A floor of 3.00 is the common threshold at the large employers - BCA, Astra International and Unilever Indonesia among them - and it is frequently stated in the advert itself. If your IPK is below the floor, do not omit it and hope; lead instead with internship results, certifications or competition placings that give a screener a different reason to keep reading.

S1, D3 and SMA

The Indonesian qualification ladder, and worth writing correctly because adverts specify it directly. S1 is the four-year bachelor degree, S2 the master, S3 the doctorate; D3 is the three-year applied diploma and D4 the applied bachelor. SMA is general senior secondary school and SMK is the vocational stream, which matters because many technical and manufacturing roles ask for SMK specifically. Name the jurusan (major) as well as the level - "S1 Teknik Industri" tells a screener far more than "Bachelor degree".

SKCK (police clearance)

Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian, issued by POLRI, confirming you have no criminal record. It is a standard supporting document for job applications, especially in banking, government, security and roles handling money, and it is also used for visa applications. It is valid for six months, so time it against your search rather than obtaining it a year early. It is normally attached as a document rather than described on the CV; note it in your supporting-documents list.

The signed declaration

Indonesian CVs close with a declaration of authenticity above your signature, conventionally "Demikian daftar riwayat hidup ini saya buat dengan sebenarnya", with place and date. It is a genuine local convention and its absence is noticed on a domestic application. It is also the single clearest marker that a CV was written for Indonesia - so it is the first thing to delete when you apply to Australia, Singapore or the UK, where a signed declaration on a CV reads as unfamiliar at best.

Supporting documents (berkas lamaran)

Indonesian applications are usually submitted as a bundle rather than a single file: the CV, the academic transcript (KHS or the final transcript), the ijazah or diploma certificate, KTP, sometimes the family card (KK), SKCK, a recent photograph and any certificates. Scan them as clean, correctly rotated PDFs with sensible filenames - "Budi_Santoso_Ijazah.pdf" rather than "scan001.pdf" - because a recruiter working through a hundred applications is quietly grading how organised the bundle is.

NPWP, BPJS and UMR

NPWP is your tax number and BPJS covers the health and employment social-security schemes; both are onboarding paperwork rather than CV content, so leave them off. UMR, UMP and UMK are the regional minimum wages and they are the reference point for salary discussion - Jakarta sits far above the national range. If an application asks for expected salary, give a monthly IDR figure or a narrow range rather than "negotiable", which reads as unprepared.

Organisational experience

BEM (the student executive body), himpunan mahasiswa (departmental associations), UKM societies and event committees carry real weight in Indonesian graduate hiring, unlike in most Western markets. Give the position, the organisation, the term and the scale - budget managed, committee size, attendance at the event you ran. For a management trainee application this section can matter as much as the internship, because the scheme is explicitly selecting for leadership potential.

Writing tips for Indonesian CVs

Six things that separate a professional CV template Indonesia recruiters shortlist from the simple CV Indonesia layout most applicants send.

Put IPK where a screener will find it in two seconds

IPK is the first filter on a fresh-graduate CV and often an explicit threshold in the advert - 3.00 is the common floor at BCA, Astra International, Unilever Indonesia and most management trainee schemes. Write it as "IPK 3,45 / 4,00" with the scale included, next to the jurusan and university. Burying it at the bottom of the page, or leaving it out because it is below the line, both read the same way to someone working through two hundred applications.

Treat magang as real work experience

An internship is usually the only work history a fresh graduate has, so give it the company, the division, exact dates and three or four bullets on what you produced with numbers attached - records processed, reports built, customers handled, systems used. "Magang 3 bulan" throws away your strongest evidence. Give it its own section rather than a line under education.

Keep organisational experience - it is read here

BEM, himpunan mahasiswa, UKM societies and event committees genuinely count in Indonesian graduate hiring, and a management trainee scheme is explicitly selecting for the leadership they demonstrate. Give the position, the term, and the scale: committee size, budget managed, attendance at the event you ran. This is the section international CV advice tells you to cut, and that advice is wrong for Indonesia.

Name the level and the jurusan, not "bachelor degree"

Write "S1 Teknik Industri, Institut Teknologi Bandung" rather than "Bachelor degree, ITB". Adverts specify the level directly and screeners match on it, and the distinction between S1 and D3, or between SMA and SMK, decides eligibility for a large number of roles - many technical and manufacturing positions ask for SMK specifically. Spell the university out in full at least once for a reader who may not recognise the acronym.

Build the international version before you need it

The photo, date of birth, religion, marital status, KTP number and signed declaration are the fields that make a domestic CV complete and an overseas application fail. Australian, Singaporean and British recruiters read them as a discrimination risk or as evidence the applicant does not know the market. Keep two versions from the start rather than editing under time pressure when a posting closes in two days.

Keep it single-column, table-free, and name your files properly

JobStreet, Glints and Kalibrr parse uploads with their own parsers, and the corporates run Workday and SuccessFactors. Tables, columns and text boxes are what most often cause a parser to drop content silently - a two-column "modern" CV can lose your whole work history invisibly. Indonesian applications also travel as a bundle, so name each file properly: "Budi_Santoso_CV.pdf", not "scan001.pdf".

Applying abroad from Indonesia

Do not send the Indonesian format overseas. Remove the photo, date and place of birth, religion, marital status, KTP number and the signed declaration before you apply to Australia, Singapore, New Zealand or the UK - all of them are ignored at best and read as a discrimination risk at worst. Australia is the largest corridor: the Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) has a 5,000-place annual cap for Indonesian citizens that resets on 1 July and does fill, so state your visa position near the top of the CV. The Gulf is the exception and works more like the Indonesian format, with photo, nationality and visa status all expected. Switch to the destination format:
