Senior Valve Technician/ Mechanical technician

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Senior Valve Technician to support valve refurbishment, maintenance, testing, overhauling, and site service activities. Candidates with valve experience are preferred; however, experienced mechanical technicians with strong hands-on maintenance, fitting, machining, or equipment repair experience may also apply.

The selected candidate will be responsible for inspecting, dismantling, repairing, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting different types of industrial valves used in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, marine, and general industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out inspection, dismantling, cleaning, repairing, lapping, assembling, and testing of different types of valves.
• Work on gate valves, globe valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, safety valves, control valves, and other industrial valves.
• Identify valve defects such as leakage, seat damage, disc damage, stem wear, body damage, corrosion, and mechanical failure.
• Perform valve refurbishment activities including seat lapping, gland packing replacement, gasket replacement, bolting, alignment, and minor mechanical repair.
• Conduct hydro testing, pressure testing, leak testing, and functional testing as per company procedure and client requirements.
• Read and understand basic mechanical drawings, valve drawings, maintenance instructions, and job cards.
• Lead and guide junior technicians during workshop and site activities.
• Ensure tools, machines, lifting equipment, and testing equipment are used safely and correctly.
• Prepare basic inspection findings and support job completion reports.
• Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements, quality standards, and company work instructions.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, QA/QC, and clients during valve repair and testing work.
• Support emergency breakdown jobs and site service jobs whenever required.

Required Skills and Experience

• Previous experience as a Valve Technician, Mechanical Technician, Fitter, Maintenance Technician, or similar role.
• Good hands-on knowledge of mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, fitting, assembly, and troubleshooting.
• Valve refurbishment or valve testing experience will be an added advantage.
• Ability to use mechanical tools, measuring instruments, torque tools, grinding/lapping tools, and workshop equipment.
• Basic knowledge of pressure testing and safety requirements.
• Ability to guide junior technicians and complete jobs independently.
• Good understanding of workshop safety and industrial work procedures.

Qualification

• ITI, Diploma, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Fitter, Machinist, Maintenance, or related technical field.
• Candidates with strong practical experience may also be considered.
