Job description

Artelia is seeking an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Team Leader to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across a portfolio of infrastructure projects with experience in Water/Wastewater Sector.

The successful candidate shall be responsible for managing Electrical and Mechanical engineers, providing technical leadership, allocating resources, reviewing engineering deliverables, coordinating with clients and other disciplines, and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with the required quality, programme and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Electrical and Mechanical engineering team across multiple projects.
  • Plan and allocate engineering resources according to project priorities, workload and delivery schedules.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to designer engineers.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, datasheets, drawings, schedules and Bills of Quantities.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable international and local codes, standards and client requirements.
  • Ensure coordination of Electrical, I&C and Mechanical design activities with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Process and BIM disciplines.
  • Manage multidisciplinary technical interfaces and resolve design coordination issues.
  • Monitor project engineering progress, deliverables, man-hours and resource requirements.
  • Identify technical, programme and resource risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, design reviews and project coordination meetings.
  • Support preparation of technical and commercial proposals, including scope definition, methodology, deliverables, manpower allocation requirements and engineering man-hour estimates.
  • Support project managers in planning and executing engineering activities.
  • Ensure appropriate QA/QC procedures and engineering review processes are followed.
  • Mentor and develop engineers within the team and support performance evaluations and career development.
  • Support recruitment, interviews and technical assessment of prospective engineering staff.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, engineering best practices and continuous improvement within the team.

The candidate should have strong knowledge of electrical and I&C systems including, as applicable:

  • MV and LV power distribution systems.
  • Substations design.
  • Transformers.
  • Generators and emergency power systems.
  • UPS and DC battery systems.
  • Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Motor control centres.
  • Protection and coordination.
  • Short-circuit and load-flow studies.
  • Earthing and lightning protection.
  • Lighting and small power.
  • Power quality and voltage-dip mitigation.
  • SCADA, control and instrumentation interfaces.
  • Electrical equipment specifications.

The candidate should be capable of leading and coordinating mechanical engineering activities including, as applicable:

  • HVAC and ventilation systems.
  • Pumps and pumping systems.
  • Mechanical piping systems.
  • Water and wastewater equipment.
  • Fire protection systems.
  • Plumbing and drainage.
  • Mechanical equipment packages.
  • Equipment sizing and technical specifications.
  • Mechanical calculations and equipment selection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional engineering registration or chartership is preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, including significant experience in team leadership or managerial position.
  • Previous experience in managing multidisciplinary Electrical, I&C and Mechanical engineering teams.
  • Strong experience in infrastructure, utilities, water/wastewater and industrial projects.
  • Good understanding of applicable IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/EN and local authority requirements.
  • Experience with engineering consultancy and multidisciplinary design environments is a must.
  • PMP certified is preferred however not mandatory.
