MEP Draftsman

Our sister company, Barbuda Electromechanical Works LLC, is looking for an experienced and competent MEP Draftsman with strong experience in high-rise building projects in the UAE.

Job Summary

The MEP Draftsman will be responsible for preparing accurate and coordinated drawings for mechanical, electrical and plumbing services. The candidate must ensure that all drawings comply with project specifications, design requirements, applicable standards and consultant requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fire alarm and ELV systems.
• Prepare coordinated MEP drawings based on approved architectural, structural and civil drawings.
• Review tender drawings, design drawings, project specifications, BOQs and technical requirements.
• Develop detailed layouts, sections, elevations, schematics, riser diagrams and installation details.
• Prepare builders’ work drawings showing sleeves, openings, shafts, trenches, supports and equipment foundations.
• Identify and resolve clashes between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and architectural services.
• Coordinate with MEP engineers, site teams, consultants, subcontractors and other disciplines.
• Incorporate consultant comments and revise drawings promptly for approval.
• Maintain proper drawing registers, revision records and document-control procedures.
• Prepare and update drawings according to approved material submittals and equipment selections.
• Verify site measurements, installation routes and actual conditions before preparing or revising drawings.
• Prepare detailed drawings for equipment rooms, plant rooms, electrical rooms, shafts and service areas.
• Ensure that drawings are accurate, properly scaled, clearly detailed and correctly referenced.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and assist engineers with material requirements when necessary.
• Support site teams by providing construction details and resolving drawing-related issues.
• Update shop drawings according to approved technical changes and site instructions.
• Prepare redline drawings and final as-built drawings based on actual site installations.
• Coordinate the submission and approval of shop drawings and as-built drawings.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, UAE authority requirements and applicable standards.
• Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy records of all MEP drawings.
• Assist in compiling drawings and technical documents for final project handover.
• Complete all drawing submissions according to the approved project programme.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or a relevant engineering discipline.
• Six to ten years of relevant MEP drafting experience.
• Proven experience as an MEP Draftsman on high-rise building projects.
• Strong UAE experience in high-rise building construction is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fire alarm and ELV systems.
• Strong knowledge of MEP coordination, builders’ work and services integration.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil and MEP drawings.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP and BIM coordination will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of UAE authority regulations, construction standards and drawing-submission requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and drawing-management skills.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict drawing-submission deadlines.
