Job description
Our sister company, Barbuda Electromechanical Works LLC, is looking for an experienced and competent MEP Procurement Officer with strong procurement experience in high-rise building projects in the UAE.
Job Summary
The MEP Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating and purchasing mechanical, electrical and plumbing materials, equipment and services. The candidate must ensure that all procurement activities are completed within the approved budget and project schedule while complying with technical specifications and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fire alarm and ELV materials and equipment.
- Review approved material submittals, project specifications, BOQs, drawings and purchase requisitions.
- Obtain quotations from approved suppliers and subcontractors based on the project’s technical requirements.
- Prepare detailed technical and commercial comparison statements for management review and approval.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure they comply with approved quotations, specifications and project requirements.
- Source reliable suppliers and subcontractors and maintain an updated vendor database.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, QA/QC teams, quantity surveyors, stores and accounts departments.
- Ensure that all materials and equipment are procured according to approved brands, specifications and material submittals.
- Monitor procurement schedules and ensure the timely delivery of materials to the project site.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding production, inspection, shipment and delivery status.
- Identify long-lead materials and initiate procurement activities in advance to prevent project delays.
- Monitor material costs and ensure all purchases remain within the approved project budget.
- Assist in preparing procurement plans, material-tracking schedules and cash-flow requirements.
- Verify supplier quotations, delivery notes, invoices and supporting documents before payment processing.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team to arrange material inspections and resolve rejected or non-compliant deliveries.
- Handle material shortages, damaged items, incorrect deliveries, replacements and warranty claims.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, price, delivery, service and contractual compliance.
- Maintain proper records of enquiries, quotations, comparison statements, purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices.
- Prepare regular procurement status and material-delivery reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures and approval authorities.
- Support tendering and estimation teams by obtaining competitive quotations and current market prices.
- Develop cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or technical requirements.
- Ensure ethical, transparent and professional procurement practices at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a relevant discipline.
- Six to ten years of relevant procurement experience in the MEP construction industry.
- Proven experience in procuring MEP materials and equipment for high-rise building projects.
- Strong UAE experience in MEP procurement is required.
- Good technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fire alarm and ELV materials.
- Strong knowledge of UAE suppliers, subcontractors, manufacturers and local market prices.
- Experience in preparing enquiries, comparison statements, purchase orders and procurement reports.
- Strong negotiation, commercial evaluation and cost-control skills.
- Ability to understand project specifications, BOQs, approved material submittals and technical requirements.
- Excellent communication, coordination and vendor-management skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple procurement requirements simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and relevant ERP or procurement software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project procurement deadlines.
