Job description

We’re looking for a Team Lead Accounting who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a hands-on and pragmatic approach. As MR MARVIS continues to grow internationally, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our General Ledger, improving accounting processes, and supporting the development of our accounting team.

As our Team Lead Accounting, you’ll take ownership of core accounting activities including month-end close, reconciliations, fixed assets, prepayments, and audit preparation. You’ll review and coach junior and medior team members, help improve the quality and efficiency of our accounting processes, and support the business as financial complexity continues to grow internationally.

What you'll do

  • Owning the Closing Cycle: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes for Accounting. You’ll ensure our trial balance is timely, accurate, and ready for reporting purposes.
  • Coach the Team: Perform reviews of work from our Junior and Medior GL Accountants. You’re the mentor who ensures our data quality stays top-notch.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Take full ownership of the Fixed Asset register and oversee depreciation. You’ll also ensure our Lease Liability postings are perfectly tailored.
  • Complexity Specialist: Handle the heavy lifting of prepayments, deferred expenses, and the preparation of year-end audit files for Accounting.
  • Continuous Improvement: You’ll identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and automation within the department.
  • Control & Compliance: Improve our balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure we’re always accurate and complete when reporting on our assets and liabilities.
  • Audit Partner: Act as the main point of contact from Accounting for external auditors, making the annual audit process as smooth as our organic cotton.

What you'll bring

  • Essential

    • Experience: You have several years of experience in GL accounting, preferably in a fast-growing retail or e-commerce environment.

    • Coaching Mindset: You don’t need formal managerial experience, but you can demonstrate that you’ve reviewed work, shared knowledge, and helped junior and medior team members developYou enjoy sharing knowledge and helping team members grow.

    • Analytical thinking: You have strong attention to detail and care about accurate financial data and reconciliations.

    • Proactive approach: You proactively identify issues, improve workflows, and help create more efficient and scalable accounting processes.

    • Finance Fluency: You’re comfortable with accounting standards, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining high levels of accuracy and control

    • Excel: You’re comfortable working with Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.Nice to have

    • Experience working in a growing retail or e-commerce business.

    • ERP system knowledge: We use Odoo, it would be ideal if you have some ERP knowledge.

    • Previous experience onboarding, mentoring, or coaching

    • Experience supporting external audits or preparing audit documentation.
