Civil Engineer

Job Summary

The Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and execution support of civil and structural works for ADNOC oil & gas projects. The role includes involvement across FEED, detailed engineering, and construction phases, ensuring safe, durable, and cost-effective structural solutions in compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & Structural Design

• Perform engineering design and analysis for:
• Foundations (shallow, pile, raft, machine foundations)
• Steel structures (pipe racks, platforms, shelters)
• Concrete structures (buildings, control rooms, substations)
• Prepare and review:
• General Arrangement (GA) drawings
• Structural drawings and design calculations
• Ensure design suitability for static, dynamic, environmental, and operational loads.

Structural Analysis

• Perform structural analysis using:
• STAAD Pro etc
• Evaluate load cases such as:
• Dead, live, wind, seismic, thermal, and blast loads
• Design structures for:
• Strength, stability, and serviceability
• Perform dynamic analysis for equipment foundations when required.

Site Development & Infrastructure

• Design and review civil works including:
• Grading and levelling plans
• Roadworks and paving
• Drainage systems (stormwater, oily water)
• Underground services and utilities
• Coordinate soil investigation and incorporate geotechnical data into design.

Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with:
• ADNOC Standards (ADES/ AGPS)
• International codes (ACI, BS, Eurocodes, ASTM, ASCE)
• Apply HSE requirements and constructability principles in design.
• Participate in design reviews, audits, and HAZID/HAZOP sessions.

Interface & Coordination

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams:
• Mechanical (equipment loads & layouts)
• Piping (pipe rack design, supports)
• Electrical & I&C (cable routing, substations)
• Interface with:
• Geotechnical consultants
• Survey teams
• Vendors and contractors

Material & Quantity Estimation

• Prepare and review:
• Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
• Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
• Optimize material usage for cost efficiency without compromising safety.

Construction Support

• Provide technical support during:
• Construction and site activities
• Review:
• Contractor drawings, shop drawings, and method statements
• Address:
• RFIs, site queries, and design changes
• Participate in inspections to ensure quality and compliance.

Documentation & Deliverables

• Prepare and review:
• Design reports and calculation sheets
• Technical specifications and scope documents
• Work procedures and engineering deliverables
• Maintain document control throughout project phases.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.

Experience

• 5 to 10 years of experience in civil and structural engineering.
• Experience in oil & gas / petrochemical / industrial projects preferred.
• Exposure to ADNOC or Middle East projects is an advantage.
• Experience in FEED and EPC engineering phases is desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
• Structural design principles (steel & concrete)
• Foundation design and soil mechanics
• Proficiency in:
• STAAD Pro
• AutoCAD and basic 3D review tools
• Familiarity with:
• Blast-resistant design
• Industrial structures and plant layouts

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• High attention to detail and quality standards.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent
• Membership in professional bodies (ASCE, ICE, IStructE)
• Basic HSE certification
