Technical Process Superintendent

Description

The purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership for all metallurgical and process optimisation activities across the operation. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the processing plant by driving continuous improvement, providing metallurgical support to operations, and ensuring compliance with Company, Client and applicable Saudi Arabian regulatory requirements. The position includes the management and development of the metallurgical team, providing technical support to the Production Process Superintendent, and acting in the Plant Manager's role when required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and metallurgical support to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the processing plant.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise plant throughput, recovery, equipment performance and operating costs.
• Monitor plant performance, analyse metallurgical data and lead technical investigations to identify and implement sustainable process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Saudi Arabian legislation, Company standards, Client requirements, ISO management systems and environmental obligations.
• Ensure accurate metallurgical accounting, laboratory quality assurance and timely reporting of plant performance.
• Coordinate process optimisation activities with Operations, Engineering and Maintenance to maximise plant reliability and production performance.
• Lead, coach and develop the metallurgical team while promoting technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Provide technical input into capital projects, commissioning activities, plant modifications and process improvement initiatives.
• Manage technical reporting and administrative requirements in accordance with Company procedures.
• Act as relief for the Production Process Superintendent and Plant Manager when required.

Qualification Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED qualifications such as the N3 Certificate
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
• Valid driver’s licence

Experience and Skills Requirement

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mineral processing plants, including experience in a management capacity
• Strong gold processing experience
• Sound understanding of crushing, milling, gravity recovery, CIL, elution and gold recovery processes
• Experience in metallurgical accounting, reconciliation and process performance monitoring
• Knowledge of process optimisation, plant troubleshooting and continuous improvement methodologies
• Knowledge of Technical Risk Management and Process Safety principles
• Experience with Metallurgical test work, process investigations and root cause analysis
• Knowledge of cyanide management, detoxification processes and environmental compliance
