Smoke Damper & Ventilation Fan Technician

Core Responsibilities

• Inspection & Testing: Regularly cycle fire/smoke dampers and powered exhaust ventilators. Ensure fusible links, actuators, and smoke detectors trigger automatic closures during testing.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Repair and replace malfunctioning actuators, corroded linkages, and worn-out fan belts. Lubricate moving parts and clean duct assemblies.
• System Balancing: Work with building automation systems (BAS) to ensure fans maintain proper static pressure and airflow during dynamic smoke control events.
• Compliance & Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of inspection dates, pass/fail status, and repairs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalent, with vocational or technical trade school certifications in HVAC/R or electrical systems.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working familiarity with life safety regulations and standard building codes.
