Job description

Position Objectives

The Civil Design Review Engineer acts as a consultant to review design calculations, drawings, and layouts. The engineer ensures full compliance with Telecom Infrastructure codes and that all designs align with client specifications and standards. Core to this role is applied expertise in GSM infrastructure, civil design, lattice tower analysis, structural strengthening, GuyMast simulation, and STAAD Pro structural modelling.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage civil design contents, coordinating with team members to produce final deliverables, with emphasis on GSM telecom infrastructure.
  • Translate telecom service orders, including GSM rollout and upgrade scopes, into civil engineering requirements and structural design briefs.
  • Review and approve civil design calculations using STAAD Pro and GuyMast, and deliver final recommendations on scope do-ability.
  • Review and approve design drawings for lattice towers, monopoles, guyed masts, and ancillary telecom structures per applicable codes and client standards.
  • Propose and guide site-specific structural solutions, including lattice tower strengthening, leg extensions, support beams, and foundation upgrades as required.
  • Assess and execute structural strengthening programs for existing towers to accommodate new GSM equipment loads or antenna configuration changes.
  • Perform and review GuyMast analyses validating guy wire tensions, anchor loads, and mast deflections under defined load cases.
  • Conduct and review STAAD Pro analyses for towers, frames, and support structures, ensuring outputs are code-compliant and construction-ready.
  • Troubleshoot structural design issues and implement corrective actions to prevent construction delays.
  • Identify and mitigate structural risks, including design errors, material failures, and compliance breaches.
  • Produce final design attributes including EPA, structure capacity, utilisation ratios, and future do-ability assessments.
  • Lead stakeholder coordination and resolve issues that may cause project delays.

Qualification and Required Skills

  • BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of Solid understanding of Telecom Industry standards, including TIA-222, with proven application in GSM infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in civil design of lattice towers, monopoles, and guyed masts.
  • Proven experience in structural strengthening of telecom towers, including capacity studies and reinforcement detailing.
  • Proficient in GuyMast or equivalent — core requirement.
  • Proficient in STAAD Pro — core requirement.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for civil design drawing review and production.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills — mandatory.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
