Job Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Satellite Payload Systems Engineer to join an international R&D team based in Lausanne, Switzerland, working on the development of next-generation satellite communication systems.

The position is particularly focused on the digital/back-end architecture of telecommunications payloads, from system definition and requirements downflow to integration, validation and in-orbit activities.

Your responsibilities

You will contribute to the definition and development of advanced satellite communication payload architectures, with a particular focus on digital and regenerative payload technologies.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include Define and develop digital telecommunications payload architectures

Contribute to on-board processing (OBP), regenerative payload and digital processing architectures

Translate mission and system needs into payload and subsystem requirements

Define and manage interfaces between hardware, software and payload subsystems

Perform system-level trade-offs and contribute to SWaP-C analyses

Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners/subcontractors

Review and challenge technical solutions proposed by equipment suppliers

Support payload development throughout design, integration, verification and qualification

Contribute to test definition, technical reviews and analysis of test results

Support AIT/AIV, launch preparation and in-orbit commissioning activities

Participate in major engineering and design reviews and provide technical documentation and presentations

Profile / Requirements Your background

We are looking for an engineer with a strong background in satellite telecommunications and digital payload systems, ideally with 8+ years of relevant experience.

You should have experience in several of the following areas:

Satellite telecommunications payload architecture

Digital / regenerative payloads

On-board processing and digital signal processing

Modem and communication processing architectures

Digital routing, switching and/or channelization

HW/SW payload architecture and interfaces

Satellite system engineering and requirements management

Payload equipment and subsystem development

Integration, verification and space qualification

Payload testing and/or in-orbit commissioning

Experience with RF communication chains, antennas, TT&C, FPGA/SoC technologies, orbital tools or satellite operations would be considered an advantage, but deep RF expertise is not the primary focus of the position.

A Master's degree or PhD in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Space Systems or a related discipline is expected.

You will join an international and multidisciplinary R&D environment in Lausanne, working closely with specialists across hardware, software, digital communications and satellite systems.

The role offers significant involvement in technical decisions and next-generation SatCom developments, from early architecture phases through validation and deployment.

Swiss or EU (27) Citizenship or valid Swiss working permit
