Job description

Senior Compiler Engineer – Novel Computing Architecture Zurich preferred | Remote across Europe considered

C++ | LLVM | MLIR | Hardware–software co-design

I’m supporting an early-stage deep-tech company in Zurich that is developing a novel computing architecture for next-generation, compute-intensive workloads.

They’re looking for a Senior Compiler Engineer to help build the compiler and software stack around their proprietary hardware. This is an early technical hire with significant influence over the architecture, tooling and future direction of the platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and developing a compiler stack for a new hardware architecture
  • Building intermediate representations, compiler passes and lowering pipelines
  • Developing hardware-aware optimisations and code-generation capabilities
  • Translating high-level workloads into efficient execution on the target architecture
  • Working closely with the founders and hardware engineers on hardware–software co-design
  • Defining interfaces across the compiler, runtime and architecture layers
  • Profiling, benchmarking and debugging generated workloads
  • Helping shape the company’s technical roadmap and engineering standards

What They’re Looking For

  • Strong modern C++ development experience
  • Professional compiler engineering experience using LLVM, MLIR or a comparable compiler infrastructure
  • A solid understanding of intermediate representations, compiler passes, lowering and optimisation
  • Experience working close to hardware or targeting processors, accelerators or custom silicon
  • The ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
  • An interest in taking ownership and helping build a technology platform from the ground up

Experience developing compilers for GPUs, NPUs, DSPs, FPGAs or other specialised accelerators would be particularly relevant.

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-connected founding team at an early stage and have a genuine impact on both the compiler and underlying architecture.
