Job description

Role: Project Engineer (Instrumentation and controls)

Location: Baar, Switzerland

Type: Permanent

Our client is a Swiss technology company specializing in high-precision measurement, control, and automation solutions. As an agile core company within an internationally successful industrial group, our client ensures the functionality and transformation of critical infrastructure. With innovative hardware and software, the company makes a decisive contribution to the energy transition, resource efficiency, and supply security in the water, gas, and electricity sectors.

Your Mission

In this role, you will be the architect of digital transformation on the front line. You will take responsibility for plant-specific software development and the design of modern networks that form the foundation for a secure and sustainable supply for hundreds of thousands of households. Your impact is directly measurable: without your programs, critical infrastructure comes to a standstill.

Your Responsibilities

  • Software Engineering: Design and program plant-specific application software for modern automation stations (PLCs) as well as the company's proprietary, high-performance control system.
  • Architecture & Consulting: Proactively support project management and sales in designing complex control technology and network architectures.
  • Quality & Functional Testing: Conduct final network simulations and software tests in the internal test environment to guarantee fault-free delivery.
  • Commissioning: Accompany system commissioning—flexibly via remote access or occasionally directly on-site with operators in Switzerland.

Your Profile

  • Education: Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automation Technology, or an equivalent technical qualification (e.g., Higher Vocational School / Advanced Federal Diploma).
  • Expertise: Several years of solid practical experience in project planning and programming within the I&C / automation environment (EMSRL).
  • Industry Knowledge (Advantageous): Initial exposure to processes in the utility sectors (water, gas, electricity, or wastewater) will facilitate your onboarding.
  • Personality: Characterized by a high commitment to quality, personal initiative, and a strong team and customer orientation.
  • Languages: Business-fluent German (C1/C2) is essential for coordinating with Swiss clients; knowledge of French or Italian is a strong plus.
