Job description
Special Minds places Learning Support Assistants — one-to-one shadow teachers — with children who have special educational needs, in schools and homes across the United Arab Emirates.
We're looking for fluent English speakers to join our practitioner network for the current school year.
The job in one sentence: sit beside one child, in their classroom or at home, and help them access a day that isn't built for them yet.
What the role looks like day to day:
- One-to-one support for a child, inside their mainstream classroom or at home, following the school calendar and daily timetable (or agreed home hours)
- Working from the child's individual support plan — behavior, communication, or learning goals set with the school's SENCO or the family
- A short session record submitted within 24 hours of each session
- Regular contact with the school's SEN team or the family, and with your Special Minds coordinator
We are looking for:
- Fluent English, spoken and written — this is a language-immersion placement as much as a support one
- A relevant qualification or a genuine head start on one: psychology, education, special needs, early-years, or a teaching diploma/degree in progress
- Experience with children — SEN experience is a strong advantage, general classroom or childcare experience is a reasonable start
- Patience for a job measured in small, repeated wins, not fast ones
- Eligible to work in the United Arab Emirates, or able to obtain sponsorship/NOC before the placement starts
