Job description
Aspen Medical is seeking expressions of interest from experienced international and regional healthcare professionals, clinical educators and subject matter experts for a multi-year healthcare training programme in Syria.
The programme will support the development and delivery of a structured healthcare capability programme for Syrian healthcare professionals, covering core clinical care, digital health, multidisciplinary practice, service improvement, workforce capability and emergency preparedness.
The delivery model will use a combination of international and regional technical expertise, remote programme management and short planned deployments into Syria. These are not permanent resident positions in Syria.
Positions sought
We are seeking expressions of interest across the following disciplines:
- Primary & Emergency Care SME / Clinical Educator
- Public Health & Health Systems SME
- Healthcare Quality Improvement SME
- Digital Health & Remote Patient Monitoring SME
- Disaster Medicine / Emergency Preparedness SME
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Quality Lead
Minimum requirements
Requirements will vary according to the position; however, applicants should generally demonstrate:
- A recognised university qualification relevant to their discipline.
- Appropriate postgraduate or specialist qualifications for senior SME positions.
- Current professional registration for clinical roles.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant professional experience**, with Lead SME and senior programme positions generally requiring 8–10+ years.
- Demonstrated experience training, educating or facilitating qualified healthcare professionals.
- Strong professional English-language capability.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare groups.
- Ability to undertake short international deployments, including into Syria, subject to security and operational approval.
Arabic is not mandatory for every technical specialist position. Dedicated Arabic–English healthcare education support will be available where required. However, professional Arabic, particularly Levantine Arabic, is highly desirable for participant-facing positions and will be given preference where candidates otherwise demonstrate equivalent technical qualifications.
Experience we are particularly interested in
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in one or more of the following:
- healthcare delivery or training in **humanitarian, fragile, conflict-affected or resource-constrained environments;
- Middle East healthcare systems;
- Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq or the wider Levant;
- government or Ministry of Health programmes;
- WHO, UN, humanitarian or donor-funded programmes;
- military or deployed healthcare;
- large-scale healthcare workforce training;
- competency-based clinical education;
- simulation or case-based learning;
- digital health or remote patient monitoring;
- health-system strengthening; or
- emergency preparedness and disaster response.
Engagement model
Positions will be structured according to the requirements of each role and may include:
- Part-time UAE-based programme positions
- Project-based specialist appointments
- Casual international faculty appointments
- Short planned deployments into Syria
- Remote curriculum development and technical support between delivery periods
There is no requirement for permanent relocation to Syria.
Candidates may be based internationally. We are particularly interested in appropriately qualified professionals based in the UAE, wider GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, UK, Australia and other markets with relevant healthcare and complex-environment experience.
