Job description
Careers that change lives start here. Medtronic is a global leader in healthcare technology with a Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Our 95,000 employees work across more than 150 countries to put patients first — developing innovative medical technologies that improve the lives of 72+ million patients each year. Your unique talents will help shape the future of healthcare while building a career grounded in purpose, growth, and impact.
A Day in the Life Join Medtronic Electrophysiology Therapies and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of electrophysiology education across Western Europe. As a Principal Training & Education Specialist focused on the Affera™ Mapping and Ablation System, you will leverage your deep expertise in electroanatomical mapping to develop the next generation of Medtronic Mapping Specialists. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced mapping professional who is passionate about translating complex clinical and technical concepts into impactful learning experiences that drive confidence, competence, and field excellence. As Affera continues its expansion across Western Europe, you will have the opportunity to influence how elite field professionals are trained and prepared to support physicians in delivering advanced cardiac ablation therapies that improve patient outcomes. This home-based role supports the Western Europe region and reports directly to the Senior Training & Education Program Manager for Electrophysiology Therapies. The position requires approximately 50% travel, primarily to support internal training programs, onboarding activities, and capability-building initiatives delivered at Medtronic facilities throughout the region, including our Switzerland headquarters and local Medtronic offices.
We are particularly interested in candidates located near Meerbusch (Germany), although highly qualified candidates based in Paris, Madrid, or Milan will also be considered. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Mapping Specialists, Sales and Marketing teams, and Global Training partners to scale onboarding programs, strengthen field readiness, and support the continued growth of the Affera business across Western Europe.
This position is subject to a facility-specific vaccination requirement. Therefore, full measles vaccination is a mandatory prerequisite for filling the vacant position.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
-
Lead and facilitate instructor-led onboarding and advanced training programs for Medtronic Mapping Specialists supporting the Affera™ Mapping and Ablation System across Western Europe, including participation in regularly scheduled in-person training events.
-
Track trainee progress and readiness through structured learning pathways, including course completion, simulator training activities, assessments, coaching sessions, and field development milestones to ensure successful onboarding and ongoing competency development.
-
Partner with regional Mapping Specialists, Sales and Marketing teams, and Global Training colleagues to coordinate and execute training programs that support business priorities, product adoption, and field excellence.
-
Act as a subject matter expert for electroanatomical mapping and the Affera™ Mapping and Ablation System, delivering practical, experience-based coaching that helps Mapping Specialists develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for success in the field.
-
Identify regional learning needs and provide feedback to global partners to support the adaptation, localization, and effective implementation of training materials and educational initiatives within Western Europe.
-
Lead or contribute to strategic training and capability-building projects aimed at expanding training capacity, improving learning effectiveness, and accelerating readiness for a growing field organization.
-
Coordinate training logistics, stakeholder engagement, and project activities associated with regional education programs, ensuring a high-quality learner experience while balancing multiple priorities across countries and functions.
Required Knowledge and Experience
-
Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent qualification as applicable under local regulations) with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
-
Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience supporting electroanatomical mapping and complex cardiac arrhythmia ablation procedures, with demonstrated expertise in technologies such as Affera™, CARTO™, EnSite™, Rhythmia™, or similar mapping platforms.
-
Strong working knowledge of electrophysiology procedures, cardiac anatomy, and mapping workflows, with the ability to translate complex clinical and technical concepts into practical learning experiences.
-
Experience delivering training, coaching, or educational programs for clinical, technical, or commercial audiences, with a passion for developing the capabilities of others.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
-
