Job description

Black & Grey HR is partnering with one of the UAE’s established construction and infrastructure companies to hire an experienced Digital Engineer for their Technical & Digital Delivery team. The role will focus on developing, implementing, and supporting digital and computational engineering solutions across projects and business functions within a main contracting environment. The ideal candidate will work across software development, automation, computational design, Power BI, AI-enabled solutions, BIM/data integration, and enterprise applications, ensuring that digital solutions meet business, engineering, quality, security, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Software Development & System Integration:

  • Develop, maintain, and support desktop applications, web applications, engineering tools, APIs, and system integrations using C#, Python, SQL, and related development frameworks.
  • Integrate engineering applications, enterprise platforms, BIM systems, and Microsoft technologies to improve information flow and digital workflows.
  • Support software interoperability and system integration across engineering and business platforms.

Computational Engineering & Design Automation:

  • Develop computational engineering workflows using Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python, C#, and other visual programming or scripting technologies.
  • Create parametric and generative design solutions, automated model-checking processes, and design-validation routines.
  • Develop reusable scripts, plugins, macros, add-ins, templates, and internal engineering tools.
  • Support data exchange and interoperability between BIM, design, analysis, planning, and enterprise systems.

Automation & Digital Solutions:

  • Develop and maintain RPA, Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, and engineering workflow automation solutions.
  • Automate repetitive engineering, data-processing, reporting, document-analysis, and validation activities.
  • Support AI-enabled solutions, digital innovation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.

Data Analytics & Business Intelligence:

  • Develop Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models to support business intelligence, engineering analytics, performance monitoring, and decision-making.
  • Build automated processes for data collection, validation, transformation, and reporting.
  • Analyze engineering and project data to identify trends, performance issues, optimization opportunities, and actionable insights.

Microsoft Platform & Collaboration Solutions:

  • Develop and support Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Teams, and related applications.
  • Enhance collaboration, information management, engineering workflows, and business process automation through Microsoft technologies.

BIM & Engineering Data Integration:

  • Develop and support integrations between BIM models, engineering applications, analytical tools, and structured project data.
  • Support Revit API, Autodesk Platform Services, IFC/open-BIM workflows, and related technologies where required.

Engineering Analysis & Value Engineering Support:

  • Support engineering teams with computational analysis of tender documents, project requirements, models, and technical data.
  • Identify design risks, inconsistencies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop digital and computational tools to support option studies, design comparisons, constructability reviews, and Value Engineering (VE) assessments.

Stakeholder Support & Solution Delivery:

  • Work closely with engineering disciplines, project teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop suitable digital and computational solutions.
  • Conduct testing, deliver user training, and provide technical support throughout the solution lifecycle.

Quality, Documentation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure software, computational workflows, scripts, automation solutions, and reports comply with development, engineering, security, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Maintain source code, scripts, workflows, technical documentation, test records, and version control.
  • Monitor solution performance, prepare progress reports, and identify opportunities for further digital, computational, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computational Engineering, or Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering with strong programming capability.
  • 3–7 years of experience in software development, digital engineering, computational engineering, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience developing desktop/web applications, engineering tools, APIs, and system integrations using C#, Python, SQL, and related frameworks.
  • Experience developing computational design or engineering automation workflows using Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python, C#, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience delivering automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, RPA, and workflow automation technologies.
  • Strong experience in Power BI, data modelling, data analytics, dashboard development, and automated reporting.
  • Knowledge of parametric/generative design, engineering data integration, automated model validation, software interoperability, and BIM/data workflows.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Azure is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Git/Azure DevOps, REST APIs, database design, cybersecurity, and structured software development practices.
  • Experience with AI/LLM solutions, OpenAI/Azure AI Services, Revit API, Autodesk Platform Services, IFC/open-BIM workflows, cloud platforms, and Agile methodologies would be an advantage.
