Job description

The Opportunity

Our client is an established international engineering organisation with a strong focus on advanced manufacturing and highly regulated technical operations.

They are seeking an experienced Process Manager to oversee manufacturing processes, engineering improvement initiatives and operational infrastructure. This role will be responsible for strengthening process performance, improving production efficiency and ensuring operations meet stringent quality, safety and industry standards.

The position will work across engineering, production, maintenance and quality functions, providing both technical direction and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of manufacturing process performance and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, reliability and cost.
  • Provide technical guidance on a range of specialised manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Review existing production methods and implement improvements to enhance operational performance.
  • Ensure manufacturing activities comply with applicable regulatory, quality, safety and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement programmes across production and engineering operations.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma and other structured improvement methodologies to solve operational challenges.
  • Investigate recurring technical and production issues and coordinate the implementation of effective solutions.
  • Evaluate and introduce new manufacturing capabilities, technologies and working methods where appropriate.
  • Work with production teams to establish and maintain effective process standards and operating practices.
  • Coordinate technical development and knowledge-sharing initiatives for workshop and engineering personnel.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime, reliability and overall plant performance.
  • Manage projects involving equipment upgrades, facility enhancements and improvements to manufacturing infrastructure.
  • Identify operational risks and implement measures to improve workplace safety, reliability and resilience.
  • Lead, coach and develop technical personnel while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders on operational and engineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline .
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience within manufacturing, engineering, MRO, industrial or other technically complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, with exposure to areas such as:Precision machiningSurface treatment / coatingInspection and testingMaterials and metallurgyEngineering or process design
  • Experience working in environments where quality, traceability, safety and regulatory compliance are critical.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies .
  • Track record of delivering process optimisation, productivity or operational improvement projects.
  • Experience working with production equipment, plant facilities and maintenance teams would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching or developing engineering / technical personnel.

Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will be a technically strong engineering professional who enjoys working close to operations and solving practical manufacturing challenges.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of projects, influencing different stakeholders and translating technical issues into practical business improvements.
