Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineer – Retail Pharmacy Systems to optimize, integrate, and scale our core pharmaceutical technology infrastructure across our chain in the UAE. In this role, you will be the technical architect behind our store environments, ensuring seamless synchronization between Point of Sale (POS) terminals, Management Systems (PMS), and backend Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) frameworks.
Core ResponsibilitiesHealthcare
● Architect and manage secure API connections linking store software with regional regulatory portals, specifically managing data routing for Malafi.
● Build and optimize transactional e-Claim modules matching submission validation structures for local healthcare schemes, including Thiqa and all major Insurance Providers
● Implement automated parsing for electronic prescriptions (eRx), drug batch numbers, expiry dates, and pre-authorization validation workflows.
Stack Engineering & Architecture
● Develop clean, maintainable backend code using modern object-oriented principles to process heavy multi-site retail transaction volumes.
● Write complex, optimized SQL queries and manage relational databases, ensuring absolute data integrity across distributed storefront environments.
● Deploy, monitor, and scale retail microservices on secure, compliant cloud environments.
Operational Automation
● Standardize middleware systems to improve customer experience and optimize automated inventory tracking across nodes.
● Provide clear technical documentation tracking API changes, localized POS peripheral configurations, and health exchange schema updates.
Candidate RequirementsTechnical Stack & Qualifications
● Experience: 3 to 5+ years of development experience within a retail chain, hospital IT group, retail pharmacy, or highly integrated retail enterprise.
● Core Languages: Advanced proficiency in at least one modern enterprise language (such as C#/.NET, Python, or Java) alongside master-level SQL skills.
● Integration Expertise: Proven track record handling RESTful APIs and modern exchange standards (such as XML, JSON, or HL7 FHIR protocols).
● Cloud Engineering: Hands-on experience developing or managing applications built on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
Education & Compliance
● Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical program.
● Domain Knowledge: Firm understanding of UAE healthcare billing layers, third-party administrator (TPA) workflows, and e-claim validation files. [3]
Preferred Attributes
● Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English and Arabic is highly preferred to engage directly with local health authorities, corporate entities, and system vendors.
