Offshore Pipeline Designer
Company: Worley (Offshore Energy, former Intecsea)
Role Purpose
The Offshore Pipeline Designer is responsible for the development and delivery of offshore pipeline design drawings and 3D models for FEED, detailed engineering, installation, and operational support projects. The role works closely with pipeline engineers, structural engineers, subsea specialists, and project teams to produce accurate and efficient design solutions for offshore oil & gas and energy transition projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Develop offshore pipeline layouts, route drawings, alignment sheets, and installation drawings.
- Prepare subsea and offshore pipeline design documentation using 2D and 3D CAD tools.
- Create pipeline general arrangements, crossings, tie-ins, spools, riser interfaces, and subsea structure drawings.
- Support seabed routing and corridor development activities.
- Produce design deliverables in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Engineering Support
- Work with pipeline engineers to translate engineering calculations into design models and drawings.
- Support FEED and detailed engineering projects.
- Incorporate survey, geotechnical, and installation data into design outputs.
- Assist with design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and installation studies.
Project Execution
- Deliver assigned design work within budget and schedule.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Maintain drawing registers and document control requirements.
- Participate in client meetings and design reviews as required.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures.
- Apply industry codes and standards including DNV, API, ISO, and client specifications.
- Promote safe design principles throughout project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Design (or equivalent), Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Relevant offshore pipeline or subsea design experience.
- Knowledge of offshore oil & gas, carbon capture, hydrogen, or offshore energy projects is advantageous.
Experience
- Typically 3+ years of offshore pipeline design experience.
- Experience supporting FEED and detailed design projects.
- Familiarity with subsea developments, rigid pipelines, flexible pipelines, risers, and installation methodologies.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary offshore engineering environments.
Technical Skills
- AutoCAD, preferably Civil 3D
- Autodesk Inventor (advantageous)
- Geographic chart projections (advantageous), GIS and route development tools (desirable)
- Understanding of offshore pipeline design principles, installation methods, and subsea structures.
