Lighting Designer

Light.Func is an Award-winning vibrant lighting design studio based in Dubai with a unique approach to projects.

We are looking for a Lighting Designer for our Dubai office. The ideal candidate will have a Degree in Lighting Design, electrical engineering, architecture, interior design, or related a relevant disciplines and be working towards professional qualification(s) in lighting. A minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience is required.

Role Requirements:

At least 4 years’ experience of working within a design practice and have excellent the ability to express ideas both visually and verbally.

You will be highly motivated, passionate, enthusiastic, imaginative, and demonstrate excellent creative and technical acumen.

Responsibilities

• Completing all phases of project lighting design, starting from the original conception to implementation phases ei
• Provide lighting design solutions appropriate to client brief, budget and relevant standards.
• Attend client and design team meetings
• Prepare presentations to clients and present them to clients.
• Develop lighting design solutions – lighting calculations, research of fixture alternatives, review of fixture samples, construction of temporary mockups
• Undertake the documentation of lighting design, lighting details, light fixture schedules, lighting control specifications
• Participate in lighting mockups as needed throughout the project
• Participate in site supervision with seniors and assist in final commissioning of projects

Role Requirements:

• Able to manage a project from Concept to Completion as an active participant in all the tasks within the project (concept, presentations, drawings packages, specification and schedules, lighting calculations assessment, mock-ups, site visits, internal and external communication).
• Can work autonomously and willing to take leadership within a team.
• Attentive to details and focus on high-end results.
• Proficient in: DIALux, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite,
• BIM, 3dsMax, Rhino, Revit or similar are a plus.
• Ability to graphically express your ideas is highly valued.
• Effective and efficient time management and communication skills within the various stakeholders of the project.
• Excellent written and spoken English

Role Requirements:

·  Visual reproduction of lighting concepts in Photoshop - plans, sections and 3D's from existing images provided

·  Use of Photometric data and manipulation of Vray and Corona characteristics to reproduce realistic simulations/renders

·  Self-motivation. We work on projects that have constantly changing demands from clients, this can be challenging and means you need to find the strength within!

· Excellent, pro-active communication with team members

· Team player - crucial. We work as a team, we encourage and praise individual talent, but the purpose of the talent is to add value to the rest of the Team's work

· An understanding of lighting, the role it plays in visualisation

· A proactive attitude to daily tasks

· Assistance with lighting calculations in Dialux Evo

· A curious mind to problem-solve issues on the go, and as they arise

· Organised both from a personal workload to the overall teamwork perspective

· General day to day assistance to the whole design team in drawing preparation, BIM/CAD (missing expertise will be taught) assistance

Software expectation/expertise to fulfill the role will include but not be limited to:

· Photoshop

· Dialux Evo

· Indesign

· AutoCAD

· Revit (advantageous)

· Lumion (advantageous)

· 3DS Max (Vray and Corona)
