Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Draftsman / Joinery Draftsman to join our team. The ideal candidate may be a fresh graduate or have limited drafting experience, but should have a good understanding of joinery, carpentry, furniture, cabinetry, and interior fit-out works.

The candidate will assist in preparing AutoCAD shop drawings, detailed drawings, layouts, and fabrication drawings for joinery and carpentry works.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify 2D AutoCAD drawings for joinery and carpentry works.
• Assist in preparing shop drawings and fabrication drawings for furniture, cabinets, doors, wall panels, counters, and other joinery items.
• Interpret architectural drawings and design concepts.
• Prepare plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings as required.
• Coordinate drawings with site measurements and actual site conditions.
• Make revisions based on comments from engineers, designers, supervisors, and clients.
• Coordinate with the joinery workshop and site carpenters to ensure drawings are practical for fabrication and installation.
• Prepare cutting details, dimensions, material specifications, and construction details where required.
• Maintain proper organization and revision control of drawings.
• Assist the senior draftsman/engineer with drawing submissions and documentation.
• Conduct site measurements when required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Basic to good knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Previous experience or practical knowledge in joinery, carpentry, furniture, cabinetry, or interior fit-out is highly preferred.
• Ability to understand dimensions, materials, construction details, and joinery methods.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings.
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work with deadlines and coordinate with site and workshop teams.

Preferred Skills

• AutoCAD 2D
• Knowledge of joinery and carpentry construction
• Understanding of furniture and cabinetry details
• Basic knowledge of materials such as MDF, plywood, veneer, laminate, solid wood, and hardware
• Basic knowledge of site measurements
• Knowledge of SketchUp or other 3D software is an advantage but not mandatory.
