Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer, you'll play a key role in building the bank's service layer, developing microservices, APIs, event-driven solutions, and serving-layer components that power customer channels, AI agents, and core banking integrations. You'll work with modern engineering practices, AI-assisted development tools, and cloud-native technologies from day one.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable microservices and APIs using modern backend engineering practices.

• Build and maintain integrations and anti-corruption layers around core banking, payments, and treasury platforms.

• Develop event-driven services using streaming platforms such as Kafka and related technologies.

• Build serving-layer components, projections, read models, and caching solutions to support high-volume customer and AI-driven interactions.

• Implement secure, scalable, and agent-safe APIs with appropriate controls, audit logging, and governance.

• Contribute to automated testing, code reviews, observability, documentation, and CI/CD best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience, ideally within banking, fintech, or another regulated environment.

• Experience building and operating microservices and APIs in production environments.

• Strong experience with event-driven architectures, streaming platforms, and scalable backend systems.

• Experience with modern backend technologies, cloud-native platforms, containers, and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and secure software development practices.

• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and modern software delivery practices is highly desirable.
