Job description

Gate Gourmet is a leading global provider of a full range of catering services for primarily the airline industry. The focus is on culinary and operational excellence – and consistently providing the highest quality products and services tailored to strengthen the brand of our customers. Working with our customers and business partners, we create innovative offerings that delight the senses and make for a memorable dining experience, in the air and on the ground.

Your role:

The Commercial Controller will be an important member of the Controlling team and will be responsible for providing valuable insight into the profitability of our customers. The controller will support the commercial functions with all financial inquiries and insights. The focus will be mainly on operational/tactical topics for the entity. You will act as the finance business partner for the commercial organization overseeing the Dutch market of Gate Gourmet. In the position of Commercial Controller, you will get the possibility for personal development and growth. Additionally, you’re operating in an international environment with exposure to senior management.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the key Finance Business Partner to the Commercial organization, delivering financial insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on key business drivers, including volume, pricing, cost of goods sold (COGS), labor, margins, and customer performance.
  • Support and govern commercial pricing decisions through robust financial analysis, pricing models, and approval processes.
  • Drive customer and product profitability by conducting performance reviews, identifying optimization opportunities, and improving margin performance.
  • Lead profitability analyses and variance investigations, identifying root causes and recommending actionable improvements.
  • Support the budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close processes, with a strong focus on commercial performance.
  • Develop and maintain pricing models, cost calculations, profitability tools, and financial reporting templates.
  • Provide financial expertise for tenders, business cases, commercial opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Safeguard data accuracy by validating profitability calculations, resolving reporting discrepancies, and improving data quality.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance commercial finance processes, reporting capabilities, and cross-functional collaboration.

Who are you?

We're looking for a proactive and independent finance professional with a bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field, and at least three years of relevant experience—ideally in a commercial environment where revenue and cost performance are key. Experience in pricing & profitability management, business controlling, or commercial finance is highly valued, as is the ability to build strong relationships with commercial teams, multiple markets, and stakeholders across the broader Gate Group organization.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator in English (Dutch is a plus) who can effectively bridge the gap between commercial, production, and finance teams. You'll be comfortable working with enterprise systems such as SAP and BI tools, have advanced Excel skills, and ideally experience with Power BI. If you enjoy collaborating across all levels of an international organization and using financial insights to drive business performance, we'd love to hear from you.

Our offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8,33% year-end bonus
  • 25 vacation days plus 13 additional days.
  • Travel allowance (€0.21 per km).
  • Attractive pension scheme.
  • Affordable fresh meals and fruit at our on-site restaurant.
  • Career development opportunities within Gate Group, both locally and internationally.
  • Personal growth
  • A multicultural and dynamic working environment.
