Job Description

Role Summary:

The Senior consultant role leads multi‑market teams responsible for configuring client profiles within Visa’s authorization, authentication, clearing, and settlement systems. The types of implementations supported by the team range from moderate to very high complexity, requiring broad and deep knowledge of configuration options that enable Visa’s clients to seamlessly process transactions according to their bespoke needs. The role of Client Configuration Management is important because any undesired changes that are deployed can lead to material cardholder, financial or reputational impact. Given the material financial, operational, and reputational risk associated with configuration changes, the senior manager ensures strong governance, controls, quality, and client outcomes. All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.

What a Senior Consultant, Client Configuration Management Does at Visa:

  • Delivers technical and advisory configuration leadership, ensuring seamless implementation of required changes without customer or processing impact.

  • Provides expert consultative support to Clients, Client Services, Risk, Product, and Sales partners on card program setup, new installations, conversions, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Leads the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex configuration issues, including scenarios where standard procedures are insufficient.

  • Exercises sound judgment and decision-making in high-risk or ambiguous situations that may have financial or client impact.

  • Maintains strong working knowledge of Visa technologies, products, services, methods, and applications, proactively introducing improved approaches where appropriate.

  • Performs final review and approval for complex configuration initiatives, ensuring adherence to governance standards and operational controls.

  • Champions process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives, continuously enhancing workflows, quality, and service delivery.

  • Mentors, coaches, and trains team members on configuration standards, new products, and emerging capabilities.

  • Participates in rotational on-call or emergency support coverage, ensuring business continuity during critical or urgent events.

  • Validates accurate billing configuration and setup to protect Visa financials and ensure correct revenue recognition.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively, including providing Business Enhancement Reviews and technical explanations to Account Managers and stakeholders.

  • Proactively mitigates escalations through structured case management and early risk identification, taking decisive action when needed.

  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and facilitates cross-functional discussions to ensure end-to-end alignment on implementation outcomes.

  • Provides senior-level guidance and research support for unique, non-standard, or high-risk client scenarios.

  • Conducts annual self-risk assessments, ensuring ongoing compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.

  • Builds strong internal and external partnerships through transparent communication, credibility, and trust.

Why This Role Is Important to Visa:

Client Configuration Management enables thousands of high‑impact configuration changes annually that allow Visa’s clients—financial institutions, processors, and fintechs—to operate effectively on VisaNet.

These configurations are highly complex, tightly controlled, and business‑critical. Errors can result in significant financial loss, processing disruption, regulatory exposure, or reputational damage. This role ensures Visa continues to scale safely, innovate confidently, and deliver trusted outcomes for clients across a diverse and rapidly evolving CEMEA market.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Technology, or a related field

  • 10+ years’ experience in technical and client-facing roles within financial services, software, or information services; payment systems experience strongly preferred

  • Proven ability to combine strategic thinking with disciplined execution

  • Strong capability to comprehend complex technical topics and translate them into practical business solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, manage complexity, and deliver under pressure

  • A proactive mindset, with willingness to take on new challenges and adapt to changing priorities

  • Strong collaborative orientation, with a desire to share knowledge and improve standard operating practices

  • Excellent communication skills, leadership presence, and relationship management capability

  • Fluency in English.
