Job description
The Associate Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Engineer will lead the delivery of Fire & Life Safety consultancy services across a range of projects, providing technical leadership, managing project delivery, mentoring team members, and supporting business development while ensuring compliance with local and international fire safety codes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and review of Fire & Life Safety strategies, reports, and drawings.

Manage FLS projects from concept through construction, ensuring quality, budget, and programme compliance.

Coordinate with clients, design teams, and approving authorities.

Lead performance-based fire engineering studies, including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis where required.

Mentor junior engineers and undertake technical reviews.

Support proposals, fee estimates, and business development activities.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, company QA/QC procedures, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).

10+ years of Fire & Life Safety consultancy experience.
-
Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, UAE Fire Code, Saudi Building Code, and other relevant standards.

Experience with performance-based fire engineering and authority approvals in the Middle East is desirable.

Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients.

Attend client/Civil Defense meetings, workshops, and design coordination meetings.

Liaise with Civil Defence Authorities and other approving bodies.

Support authority submissions and address review comments.
Professional Memberships (Preferred)
-
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent.
-
Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), SFPE, SCE or equivalent.
-
NFPA CFPS, CFPE, or other relevant professional certifications are desirable.
Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
