Job description

The Associate Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Engineer will lead the delivery of Fire & Life Safety consultancy services across a range of projects, providing technical leadership, managing project delivery, mentoring team members, and supporting business development while ensuring compliance with local and international fire safety codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of Fire & Life Safety strategies, reports, and drawings.

  • Manage FLS projects from concept through construction, ensuring quality, budget, and programme compliance.

  • Coordinate with clients, design teams, and approving authorities.

  • Lead performance-based fire engineering studies, including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis where required.

  • Mentor junior engineers and undertake technical reviews.

  • Support proposals, fee estimates, and business development activities.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, company QA/QC procedures, and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).

  • 10+ years of Fire & Life Safety consultancy experience.

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, UAE Fire Code, Saudi Building Code, and other relevant standards.

  • Experience with performance-based fire engineering and authority approvals in the Middle East is desirable.

Client & Authority Liaison

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients.

  • Attend client/Civil Defense meetings, workshops, and design coordination meetings.

  • Liaise with Civil Defence Authorities and other approving bodies.

  • Support authority submissions and address review comments.

Professional Memberships (Preferred)

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent.

  • Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), SFPE, SCE or equivalent.

  • NFPA CFPS, CFPE, or other relevant professional certifications are desirable.

Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
