Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Waste Manager to oversee waste management activities across construction projects. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and monitor construction waste management plans to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, sustainability objectives, and company standards. This role is responsible for minimizing waste generation, maximizing material recovery and recycling, and ensuring safe handling, transportation, and disposal of construction and demolition waste. The role aligns with industry best practices for construction waste management and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Construction Waste Management Plans (CWMPs) for all projects.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, waste management legislation, and client requirements.
- Coordinate waste segregation, collection, storage, transportation, recycling, and disposal activities.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with waste management procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and waste audits to identify improvement opportunities.
- Track waste generation, recycling rates, diversion from landfill, and disposal costs.
- Prepare waste management reports, KPIs, and sustainability performance metrics.
- Liaise with licensed waste collection, recycling, and disposal service providers.
- Promote waste reduction initiatives and circular economy practices across projects.
- Deliver waste management training and awareness programs for project teams.
- Investigate environmental incidents related to waste handling and implement corrective actions.
- Support project teams in achieving environmental certifications and sustainability targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in Environmental Management or Waste Management are an advantage.
- HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are preferred.
Experience
- 7–10 years of experience in construction waste management, environmental management, or HSE within the construction industry.
- Experience managing waste on large infrastructure, industrial, or commercial construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction and demolition waste regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of construction waste management principles.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainability standards.
- Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Data analysis and reporting skills.
- Contractor and stakeholder management.
- Risk assessment and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and waste reporting systems.
