1. Job Summary
The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing day–to–day construction activities at assigned project sites, ensuring all works are executed in accordance with approved design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. This role supervises site personnel and labour, coordinates with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants, conducts site inspections and quality control checks, prepares progress reports, monitors material usage, and liaises with authorities as required — providing reliable engineering leadership on site and supporting the delivery of projects to the required standard and programme.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all daily site activities and the labour workforce, ensuring works are properly sequenced, safely executed, and maintained to the required standard of quality and workmanship at all times.
- Ensure all construction works are carried out in strict accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards — taking immediate corrective action where deviations are identified and escalating non–compliance to the Construction Manager.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications, applying drawing content accurately to site execution and ensuring the workforce has clear and current reference documents at all times.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants on ongoing site activities, ensuring all parties are aligned on daily work scope, delivery requirements, and any outstanding technical or coordination matters.
- Conduct routine site inspections and quality control checks, verifying that all works meet the required specification and that any quality concerns are formally identified, documented, and resolved without delay.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all site activities, enforcing site safety rules, conducting safety checks, and reporting incidents or unsafe acts to the HSE team without delay.
- Prepare daily progress reports and maintain accurate site records, ensuring all construction activities, workforce deployment, material usage, and any site issues are clearly documented and submitted to the Construction Manager.
- Monitor project progress against the programme, identifying any delays, resource constraints, or emerging risks and reporting findings with recommended actions to the Construction Manager in a timely manner.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of construction activities, supporting look–ahead programme preparation and coordinating with the Planning team to ensure site execution is aligned with the approved project schedule.
- Monitor and manage the proper use of materials on site, minimizing wastage, ensuring materials are handled and stored correctly, and reporting any shortages or discrepancies to site management without delay.
- Support in resolving technical issues arising on site, applying sound engineering judgement to address day–to–day queries and escalating complex matters to the Construction Manager or senior engineers for direction.
- Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies when required for approvals, permits, and site inspections, facilitating access and ensuring all required documentation is prepared and available.
3. Key Competencies
Construction Methods, Materials & Regulations
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and applicable local regulations — able to apply this knowledge practically to supervise site activities, review drawings, and ensure compliance across all works
MS Office & Engineering Software
Proficient in MS Office for reporting and documentation, and competent in engineering software — including AutoCAD — for drawing interpretation and technical coordination support
Safety Awareness
Well–versed in construction HSE requirements and site safety procedures,
