Senior Structural Engineer

Business Need / Purpose of role:

The Senior Structural Engineer holds the responsibility for ensuring that all Structural works are executed by the client’s requirements to the highest standard through the management of a team of Structural Site Engineers and Structural Inspectors.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

1. Provide support to and coordinate with the Project Manager on all Structural issues.

2. Review shop drawings, materials submittal, and method statements.

3. Ensures all work carried out complies with the Structural drawings, architectural drawings, and project specifications.

4. To make certain that all structural drawings are coordinated with other departmental design drawings before proceeding with structural work and to highlight any discrepancies for necessary corrections.

5. Conduct and record site inspections to ascertain standards of safety and structural quality are being met.

6. Maintains job records, text reports, and similar documentation.

7. Prepare method statements for civil works, structural works, plumbing works, earthworks, concreting works, and finishing works.

8. Evaluate and recommend feasible construction methodology as per site conditions and as per contract requirements.

Person Specification – Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications / Personal Attributes:

1. A Degree from an internationally recognized University in the field of Structural / Civil Engineering.

2. A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Structural Site Engineering position.

3. Be comfortable working within a multicultural team of Engineers.
