SAFETY SPEICHALISTFull Time
Posted On: Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 Description Developing and implementing the organization?s safety policy and procedures, maintaining safety equipment, and conducting safety trainings so that all employees have a safe working environment and the organization complies with all current and future regulations and laws.
Recommend changes to working policies and processes to ensure that all employees have a safe working environment and that the organization complies with all current and future regulations and laws, and the organizations safety policies and standards. For example, devises policies and procedures to meet the event of fire, with special reference to raising the alarm, immediate fire-fighting, where appropriate, and the fire evacuation plan for hospital patients, visitors and staff.
Conduct safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices, or working conditions. For example, plans and coordinates the holding of regular fire-drills once in each scheduled Patient Care and Non Patient Care Areas per quarter per shift throughout the hospital, for all hospital staff.
Educate and train the organizations workforce on safety (e.g. fire-fighting extinguisher and fire-prevention, Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste, Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety trainings,) to ensure that they understand and comply with the organizations safety policies and standards.
Ensure that safety equipment, supplies and resources are available in accordance with regulations and the organizations safety policies.
In the event of fire, takes command of the hospital fire-fighting in the affected area and lead response team and affected facilities? staff, liaising with the city fire department, if needed.
Maintain and analyze records of workplace injuries to identify areas of concern. Identifies potential fire and safety hazards throughout the hospital and to arrange for its remedial action.
Maintains an inventory of safety equipment. e. Smoke Detectors, Heat Detectors, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hoses, Fire Alarm Bells, Fire Alarm Break Glass Push Buttons, Emergency Exit Lights, Emergency Fluorescent Lights, Emergency Exit Doors , and to ensure the implementation of inspection, testing and planned preventive maintenance for all such equipment, including the regular top-up of fire extinguishers.
Conduct Major Internal Disaster and Chemical Spill Drills as per requirement of JCIA.
Conduct Quarterly meeting with Safety Coordinators, prepare minutes of meeting and maintain record.
Ensure Safety related policies are being implemented throughout Hospital Departments
Requirements 2-4 years experience in a similar field with at least two years? experience in a safety role
Bachelor?s degree
