Job Purpose

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, engaging, and effective digital and blended learning experiences. This role uses adult learning theories and modern instructional technologies to transform complex, raw information into structured, impactful learning assets that improve employee performance and align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Analysis & Curriculum Mapping

  • Needs Assessment: Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to identify performance gaps and define clear, measurable learning objectives.
  • Curriculum Design: Map out comprehensive learning journeys, course architectures, and blended learning strategies (combining e-learning, instructor-led training, and performance support tools).

2. Content Development & Storyboarding

  • Storyboarding: Author highly detailed scripts, screen-by-screen storyboards, and interactive concepts that outline text, media, graphics, and programming notes.
  • Adult Learning Application: Apply established instructional frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluation, or Bloom’s Taxonomy) to ensure high retention and engagement.

3. Multimedia & E-Learning Authoring

  • E-Learning Development: Build interactive, responsive e-learning modules using industry-standard rapid authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate).
  • Media Creation: Design or source high-quality visual elements, including graphics, basic animations, instructional videos, and audio voiceovers.

4. LMS Integration & Evaluation

  • LMS Compliance: Package and publish e-learning content adhering to SCORM 1.2/2004 or xAPI standards, ensuring accurate tracking of completion and assessments within the Learning Management System.
  • Continuous Improvement: Design knowledge-checks and course evaluations to gather learner feedback, analyze course effectiveness, and iterate on existing content.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience.
