Job Description
The Senior Project Surveyor will lead post-contract commercial management activities on a major Abu Dhabi development. The role requires strong technical competence, sound commercial judgement, independent decision-making, and daily travel to site to support project delivery. The individual will supervise one Project Surveyor and work closely with, and report to, the Commercial & Contracts Lead.
- Cost & Budget Control: Act as custodian of the Cost Plan; update and report variances, risks, and forecasts. Track committed, incurred, and paid costs; prepare monthly cost and earned value reports.
- Pricing Schedules & BoQs: Prepare Pricing Schedules & BoQs for new works and changes. Support procurement processes, tender clarifications, and commercial evaluations.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts in accordance with the Employer’s procedures and Construction Contract. Ensure compliance with contractual processes and approval limits.
- Payment Certification: Review payment applications for compliance, progress accuracy, and supporting documentation. Prepare payment certification and maintain payment logs.
- Change Management: Identify and track potential changes; prepare cost assessments and estimates. Maintain change registers and ensure compliance with contractual timeframes and prepare recommendations for Employer approval.
- Claims Management: Monitor compliance to reduce claim exposure. Review contractor claims for entitlement, accuracy, and contractual compliance. Prepare recommendation reports.
- Cost Management during Construction: Prepare monthly cost reports, cash-flow updates, and payment reconciliations. Evaluate variations, conduct cost comparisons, and verify payment applications.
- Team & Leadership: Supervise one Project Surveyor and oversee day-to-day commercial tasks. Provide direct support to the Commercial & Contracts Lead across all commercial and contractual matters.
Additional Skills Required
- Strong English communication and reporting skills.
- Solid understanding of cost control, contract administration, change and claims procedures.
- Ability to negotiate, analyse data, and work independently.
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office.
- High professionalism, integrity, and organizational capability.
Qualifications* Must have a QS or Engineering degree or similar equivalent
- MRICS Desirable
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience on large-scale projects.
- Post-contract consultancy experience is essential.
- Must be able to travel daily to site within Abu Dhabi (vehicle and UAE driving licence required).
