Job Description: Network Engineer – 2 vaccancies - Level 1.5 & L2

Location: Dubai, UAE

Work Arrangement: On-site at client premises

Employment Type: Full-time

Number of Vacancies: 2 – One L1.5 and One L2

Reporting To: Network Team Lead / Service Delivery Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Network Engineers to support the operation, security and continuous improvement of enterprise network infrastructure for a government-sector client in the UAE.

The successful candidates will manage LAN, WAN, data-centre and wireless environments within an SLA-driven managed-services framework. The role involves network monitoring, incident resolution, performance optimisation, security enhancement and controlled implementation of network changes across a multi-vendor environment.

The L1.5 Engineer will primarily handle operational support, proactive monitoring and first- to second-level troubleshooting. The L2 Engineer will take ownership of complex technical incidents, network enhancements, escalations and the mentoring of junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, data-centre and wireless networks in accordance with agreed performance and availability SLAs.
  • Configure, troubleshoot and optimise Cisco Catalyst switches and Cisco ISR/Catalyst 8300 routers.
  • Support routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, STP and HSRP/VRRP.
  • Administer Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco firewalls, including security policies, rule-base reviews and IPS/IDS optimisation.
  • Manage Aruba ClearPass Network Access Control and 802.1X authentication across wired and wireless environments.
  • Support Cisco Wireless Controllers, enterprise WLAN infrastructure, wireless site surveys and heatmap-based performance improvements.
  • Maintain WAN connectivity services, including MPLS, SD-WAN, IPSec/SSL VPNs, ISP links, leased lines and federal network connections.
  • Implement network redundancy, failover and load-balancing solutions to support high availability.
  • Apply network security controls, including segmentation, Zero Trust principles, security baselines, firmware upgrades and vulnerability remediation.
  • Record, prioritise and resolve incidents and service requests within established SLA timelines.
  • Execute approved changes in line with ITIL change-management procedures, including risk assessments and rollback plans.
  • Maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, configuration backups, CMDB records and operational handover reports.
  • Participate in major-incident resolution, root-cause analysis and continuous service-improvement initiatives.

Level-Specific Responsibilities

Level 1.5 Network Engineer

  • Handle daily network operations and proactive infrastructure monitoring.
  • Resolve routine and moderately complex incidents and service requests.
  • Perform health checks, firmware updates, configuration backups and documentation updates.
  • Implement approved standard or minor network changes.
  • Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams with complete diagnostic information.

Level 2 Network Engineer

  • Lead the investigation and resolution of complex, multi-domain network incidents.
  • Design and implement network changes, segmentation solutions and security improvements.
  • Review changes proposed or implemented by L1.5 engineers.
  • Manage root-cause analysis, problem management, capacity planning and vendor escalations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum five years of enterprise or data-centre networking experience for L1.5 positions.
  • Minimum eight years of enterprise or data-centre networking experience for L2 positions.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Cisco routing and switching technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience administering multi-vendor firewall environments.
  • Previous experience working within an SLA-based, ITIL-aligned managed-services, NOC or SOC environment.
  • Strong knowledge of structured troubleshooting, change management and technical documentation.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic language skills would be advantageous.

Mandatory Certifications

  • CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security.
  • Fortinet NSE 4 or an equivalent firewall certification.

Preferred Certifications

  • Palo Alto PCNSA.
  • Aruba ACCP or ACMP.
  • Cisco CCIE – Enterprise or Security.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation.
