Job Description

  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and differentiated PE lessons for Secondary boys, in accordance with the school’s curriculum and National Curriculum for England requirements.
  • Develop students’ physical skills, tactical understanding, fitness, confidence and enjoyment of sport.
  • Provide appropriate challenge and support for students of different abilities, including students with additional learning and physical needs.
  • Establish high expectations for participation, behaviour, effort and achievement.
  • Use a range of teaching, coaching and assessment strategies to maximise student progress.
  • Promote teamwork, leadership, resilience, discipline, sportsmanship and respect through PE and sport.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
  • Plan and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans and learning resources in line with departmental and school expectations.
  • Ensure appropriate progression of knowledge, skills and physical development across the Secondary phase.
  • Contribute to curriculum review and development within the PE department.
  • Conduct examinations
  • Keep up to date with developments in PE pedagogy, sport and curriculum requirements.
  • Assess, record and monitor student attainment and progress in accordance with school assessment policies.
  • Provide students with constructive and timely feedback to support improvement.
  • Use assessment information and student performance data to identify strengths, gaps and areas requiring intervention.
  • Contribute to reporting, moderation and departmental assessment processes.
  • Support students in setting appropriate personal and sporting development targets.
  • Contribute actively to the school’s extracurricular and competitive sports programme.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, participation and healthy competition.
  • Support school sporting events and activities outside normal lesson time where required.
  • Coach and develop school teams and support students in preparation for inter-school competitions and tournaments.
  • Organise and supervise fixtures, tournaments, sporting events and training sessions as required.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students during all PE lessons, activities, fixtures and events.
  • Conduct appropriate safety checks of facilities and equipment before use.
  • Follow all school safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision of students at all times.
  • Report accidents, injuries, safeguarding concerns and other incidents promptly through the appropriate school procedures.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, physical wellbeing and positive attitudes towards exercise.
  • Ensure PE equipment is used safely, appropriately and responsibly.
  • Monitor the condition of equipment and report maintenance or replacement requirements.
  • Support the effective organisation, storage and inventory of PE resources.
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams and other departments to support students’ wider development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development and school improvement activities.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Line manager/Head of Section.
  • Comply with all GEMS policies, UAE regulations and professional requirements.

Skills Description Qualifiation: Bachelor and Masters in Physical Education.
