Assistant finance manager - Naoero Medical Centre

Naoero Medical Centre is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance Department in overseeing financial operations, reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will possess strong accounting and financial management expertise gained within a hospital, healthcare facility, medical centre, or healthcare services environment. This role offers an exciting international opportunity for a finance professional who can work independently and contribute to the financial sustainability and operational success of a healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Finance Manager in overseeing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the medical centre.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis activities.
• Monitor and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and general ledger functions.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and perform account reconciliations.
• Support the development and implementation of financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and facilitate audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to management.
• Support cost management initiatives and departmental budget monitoring across the organization.
• Monitor healthcare-related expenditures, procurement costs, inventory-related financial transactions, and operational budgets.
• Assist with payroll accounting, reconciliations, and related financial processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with department managers to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
• Provide financial analysis and support for special projects and ad hoc assignments as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA, or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
• Previous experience within a hospital, healthcare facility, medical centre, or healthcare services organization is essential.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Good understanding of IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience supporting both internal and external audits.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Naoero, Nauru.
