Job description

Lead our Cable Engineering team!

N-Sea is looking for Lead Project Engineers to lead the engineering activities of multidisciplinary project teams responsible for offshore cable installation and repair projects, primarily within the offshore wind sector.

Our projects involve cable installation, cable burial and cable repair activities for both in-field and export power cables. As Lead Project Engineer, you will lead and support the engineers within your team, oversee the preparation of engineering documentation and drawings, and act as the focal point for all engineering-related interfaces with clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.

Working closely with Project Managers, offshore teams and internal departments, you will play a key role in ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Lead Engineer within the project team and manage all engineering-related interfaces between project engineers, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders.

• Lead and support Project Engineers and Discipline Engineers in developing technical solutions for offshore cable installation and repair projects.

• Coordinate and oversee engineering activities, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget to achieve project objectives.

• Guide internal and external engineering specialists performing detailed engineering work and support the preparation of engineering documentation and drawings.

• Coordinate survey equipment selections, including rental and purchase requirements, and support investment proposals for cable equipment.

• Attend client meetings, manage client expectations regarding engineering matters and ensure effective stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.

• Lead project mobilisations and demobilisations, coordinate with the Asset Management department and offshore teams, and facilitate project briefings and pre- and post-project meetings.

• Remain informed about developments in power cable installation and burial methods and equipment.

• Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards and in accordance with the company’s Document Management System.

• Occasionally act as Deputy Project Manager or Project Manager on cable projects.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Energy or a similar discipline.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in offshore power cable installation and/or repair projects.

• Proven ability to lead engineers on technical and engineering matters.

• Proven interface management skills.

• Understanding of the commercial implications of technical changes and amendments to client requirements.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

• Hands-on approach and strong team-player mentality.

• Professional attitude towards Health & Safety.

• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.

• Willing and able to work primarily from our Dordrecht office. Candidates currently based outside the Netherlands must be open to permanent relocation.

What we offer

• The opportunity to work on challenging offshore cable installation, burial and repair projects within the renewable energy sector.

• A collaborative and professional working environment with experienced engineering and offshore teams.

• Exposure to international projects and operations.

• Opportunities for personal and professional development.

• A dynamic role with a combination of office-based, project and occasional offshore activities.

• The chance to contribute to projects that support the global energy transition.

• Hybrid working flexibility, aligned with project and team requirements.

Due to the specialist nature of this position we are only considering candidates with demonstrable experience in offshore power cable installation, cable burial and/or cable repair projects. Experience gained in closely related offshore subsea installation disciplines may also be considered particularly where project leadership and interface management experience can be demonstrated.
