Senior Couture Pattern Maker & Sample Maker

We are looking for a freelancer highly experienced and technically skilled Senior Couture Pattern Maker & Sample Maker to join our fashion atelier.

The ideal candidate must be able to take a design from concept or sketch through the full garment-development process, including pattern making, draping, fabric cutting, garment construction, fitting, alterations, and couture-level finishing.

This role requires someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent craftsmanship, and the ability to work independently on complex womenswear and couture pieces.

Key Responsibilities

* Interpret fashion sketches, reference images, and creative direction and translate them into technically feasible garments.

* Create accurate patterns from sketches, measurements, existing garments, or draped toile.

* Draping directly on the mannequin to develop silhouettes, volume, gathers, pleats, asymmetric shapes, and flowing designs.

* Prepare toiles and prototypes for fitting and development.

* Cut fabrics accurately, including delicate and luxury materials such as silk, chiffon, organza, satin, lace, tulle, crepe, and other couture fabrics.

* Construct complete garments from first sample through final piece.

* Perform both machine sewing and high-quality hand sewing.

* Apply couture finishing techniques, including invisible hems, hand finishing, internal finishing, delicate closures, and clean seam construction.

* Understand garment structure, balance, fit, proportion, and movement.

* Conduct fittings and make necessary pattern and garment adjustments.

* Develop solutions for internal garment support, boning, lining, interfacing, corsetry, and structured areas when required.

* Work carefully with complex draping, bias-cut garments, layered fabrics, and intricate silhouettes.

* Ensure every garment meets a very high standard of craftsmanship, fit, and finishing.

* Recommend appropriate construction methods based on the design and selected fabric.

* Minimize fabric waste while maintaining accurate cutting and quality.

* Maintain organized patterns, samples, and garment-development records.

* Work closely with the Creative Director to develop and refine each design while maintaining the original creative vision.

Required Experience & Skills

* Strong professional experience in couture, bridal, eveningwear, luxury womenswear, or high-end bespoke fashion.

* Advanced pattern-making skills.

* Advanced draping skills.

* Excellent fabric-cutting ability.

* Excellent machine-sewing and hand-sewing skills.

* Strong understanding of garment construction and couture finishing.

* Ability to work with delicate, expensive, and difficult fabrics.

* Strong knowledge of women’s garment fitting and alterations.

* Ability to understand a sketch and independently determine how the garment should be constructed.

* Experience creating samples and prototypes from the development stage through the final garment.

* Excellent attention to detail and precision.

* Strong problem-solving skills when translating creative designs into wearable garments.

* Ability to work independently and manage several designs during collection development.

Preferred

* Experience working in a couture atelier, bridal house, luxury fashion house, or bespoke studio.

* Experience with evening gowns, draped dresses, corsetry, and complex silhouettes.

* Knowledge of embroidery, embellishment, fabric manipulation, and hand-applied details is an advantage.

* Experience developing garments from original designer sketches rather than only following existing patterns.

Sketch → Draping / Pattern Making → Toile → Fitting → Pattern Correction → Cutting → Sewing → Couture Finishing → Final Garment

The right candidate should combine technical expertise with an understanding of design, proportion, movement, and luxury craftsmanship.

Pay: AED500.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
