Job description
GINGR Communications (Junior Manager)
Location Berlin (largely office based)
Start: as soon as possible
1. Background
The Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) is a unique collaboration of NGOs and TSOs from across Europe,
engaging in an ‘energy transition ecosystem-of-actors’. We promote fair, transparent, sustainable grid
development to enable the growth of renewables and achieve full decarbonisation in line with the Paris
Agreement. GINGR is a joint initiative of RGI and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). It
aims to facilitate Nature- and People-Positive renewable energy and grid deployment by establishing an
industry-supported, government-endorsed monitoring and reporting framework at a global scale.
RGI is now looking for a Junior Communications Manager to join the GINGR Team, working as part of a
dynamic, international group that bridges sectors and cultures. The successful candidate will fit well into our
team of smart, driven, and creative individuals, and will be comfortable bridging divides between the corporate
and non-governmental world. See GINGR.org for more details.
2. Your Role
As GINGR Junior Communications Manager, you will support the day-to-day delivery of GINGR's
communications activities, with a particular focus on digital content, website and CRM management, social
media and newsletters and the operation of these systems. With responsibility for these activities, and
working closely with the GINGR Communications Manager, the GINGR Coordinator and colleagues across
the GINGR and RGI teams, you will help ensure that GINGR communicates its work in a timely, engaging and
professional way across its different channels. You will also be required to provide communications and
organisational support for periodic GINGR events and other activities.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Website & Digital Content: Maintaining, managing and regularly updating the GINGR website using
WordPress, including publishing and formatting content, reviewing and updating pages and ensuring
information is accurate and up to date.
- CRM Management: Managing and maintaining GINGR's CRM system, including keeping stakeholder
information and mailing lists accurate and up to date, supporting audience segmentation and helping
colleagues use the system effectively.
- Content Creation & Social Media: Drafting, editing, formatting, designing and publishing content for
GINGR's website, social media channels, newsletters and other communications materials, as well
as researching and sourcing relevant external content.
- Publications & Communications Materials: Supporting the formatting, proofreading and production
of reports, factsheets, presentations and other communications materials, helping ensure visual and
editorial consistency across GINGR outputs.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Event Support: Supporting the organisation and communications of GINGR events, including
conferences, webinars and workshops.
- Contributing to RGI's Other Work and Initiatives: Supporting the wider RGI Communications Team
with communications activities and ad hoc tasks as needed.
13. Your Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on and well-organised team player who enjoys working across
different communications tasks in a dynamic, multicultural environment. You are keen to learn, attentive to
detail, a self-starter, and comfortable working at pace while collaborating closely with colleagues.
Required qualifications and experience:
- An academic background in media/communications, political science, energy/environmental studies
or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in corporate communications, digital
communications, content creation or a related field. Relevant internships or comparable practical
experience may be considered.
- Strong writing and editing skills in English, with an excellent command of written English. An
additional European language would be an asset.
- Good digital skills and a strong eye for formatting, consistency and detail, including:
o Hands-on experience of using WordPress to maintain, publish, update, format website content.
o Experience creating, adapting and publishing content for social media, particularly LinkedIn.
o Experience using CRM systems and Mailchimp or comparable tools to manage contacts, mailing
lists and external email communications.
Desirable attributes:
- Knowledge of or interest in renewable energy, climate, nature and/or environmental topics.
- Experience with graphic design or content creation tools, such as Figma, InDesign or Canva.
Note: Candidates must already hold a valid work permit for Germany. Knowledge of German is
desirable but not essential, as GINGR is a global programme.
4. What We Offer
- The opportunity to contribute to an ambitious global initiative at the intersection of renewable energy,
nature and people.
- A highly international, interdisciplinary and collaborative team, with opportunities for learning and
professional development.
- Opportunities to attend international events and workshops within Europe and beyond.
5. How to Apply / Other Details

- A one-page motivation letter (mentioning your earliest start date and salary expectations).
