We are seeking technical specialists with deep expertise in femtosecond laser micro-machining , materials processing , and modern optical engineering . This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in developing next-generation optical components and data storage solutions.
You will join our R&D team in Switzerland as a laser materials processing expert . You will play a pivotal role in developing our state-of-the-art lab, working on advanced femtosecond laser systems, and developing optical components for our partners and proprietary solutions for our revolutionary 5D optical data storage. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for innovation, looking to influence the future of data storage and optical industry.
Job responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative optical components and proprietary 5D data storage elements, leveraging femtosecond laser technologies;
- Manage and maintain advanced laser systems (e.g., Light Conversion, Coherent systems) and ensure precise control through software integration and calibration;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine IP for the next generation of optical storage systems;
- Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and integrating new technologies into the lab workflow.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on laser materials processing;
- Expertise in femtosecond laser micro-machining and experience in handling and developing femtosecond laser direct writing systems;
- Strong knowledge of modern optical fabrication techniques and motion control
systems (Aerotech, Newport);
- Proficiency in optical design software (Zemax, VirtualLab) and familiarity with C#,
LabVIEW , or other programming languages for automation and control.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Proven track record in scientific R&D environments;
- Strong troubleshooting habits , including diagnosing optical, electronic, and mechanical problems through observation and the proficient use of diagnostic instruments (optical detectors, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, etc.);
- Strong problem‑solving skills , including the capacity to propose, test, and refine multiple technical solution paths;
- Motivated to continuously learn emerging technologies, expand skill sets, and generate innovative ideas.
