Job description
A family is urgently seeking an experienced, engaging, and compassionate Individual Learning Support Assistant (ILSA) to provide 1:1 support for a male Grade 8 learner in a school setting in Mirdif, Dubai.
This is a private hire directly through the family. Employment terms, salary, and contractual arrangements will be agreed directly between the successful candidate and the family.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day across academic, functional, and social activities.
- Run structured 1:1 teaching sessions in school based on the learner’s individualized program.
- Support the learner with his ASDAN program, functional academics, and individualized learning goals.
- Differentiate and adapt academic tasks to match the learner’s current skills, strengths, and learning needs.
- Support social communication, emotional regulation, classroom participation, and daily transitions.
- Promote independence, self-advocacy, organization, problem-solving, and age-appropriate life skills.
- Use age-appropriate approaches suitable for an adolescent learner, with a focus on preparing for increasing independence and adulthood.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the school SEN team, family, and the learner’s Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Participate in training and ongoing supervision provided by the BCBA.
Essential Requirements
- Strong spoken and written English.
- Previous experience working with teenagers and/or young adults with additional learning needs.
- Previous experience as an LSA/ILSA, therapist, educator, or in a similar 1:1 support role.
- Experience supporting learners with Autism.
- Ability to deliver structured 1:1 teaching and follow individualized educational and behavioral programs.
- Ability to build a positive, respectful, and age-appropriate relationship with an adolescent learner.
- Able to support the development of functional, academic, social, and independence skills.
- Proactive, reliable, communicative, and open to ongoing training and supervision.
- Own visa and reliable transportation.
- Available to work 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM during school days.
- Available to start ASAP.
Experience with ASDAN, ABA, functional skills programs, or transition-to-adulthood programs is highly preferred.
