Junior Show Props Technician
Department: Technical / Production
Reports To: Props Technician / Technical Manager / Show Manager
Location: Crazy Horse Paris: The Dubai Edition, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE
Employment Type: Full-Time
Working Days: Five days per week, based on the production schedule
Salary: AED 5,000 per month, all-inclusive, including accommodation/housing and transportation
Position Overview
Crazy Horse Paris: The Dubai Edition is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Junior Show Props Technician to support the preparation, maintenance, positioning, operation, and safe handling of all theatrical props and scenic elements used in the production.
This is a hands-on backstage role suited to someone beginning their career in theatre or live entertainment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Props Technician, Technical Manager, Show Manager, performers, and wider technical team to ensure every prop is correctly prepared, positioned, operated, reset, and stored for rehearsals and performances.
The role requires consistency, care, physical readiness, and the ability to follow instructions and show cues accurately in a fast-paced live-performance environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesShow and Props Operations
- Assist with preparing, inspecting, presetting, striking, and resetting props for rehearsals and performances.
- Position props accurately according to approved prop plots, cue sheets, and show requirements.
- Move, operate, and remove props safely and discreetly during live performances.
- Complete pre-show and post-show checks under the direction of the Props Technician or Show Manager.
- Confirm that all assigned props are performance-ready before each show.
- Support technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, daily performances, special events, and corporate shows.
- Learn and consistently follow assigned show cues, backstage routes, and changeover procedures.
- Communicate immediately if a prop is missing, incorrectly positioned, damaged, or unsafe.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Assist with the routine cleaning, maintenance, and repair of props and scenic elements.
- Support basic fabrication, painting, carpentry, mechanical repairs, and touch-ups.
- Help maintain tools, equipment, materials, spare parts, and consumables.
- Report damage, wear, mechanical faults, and safety concerns immediately.
- Ensure repaired props are inspected and approved before returning to show use.
Storage and Inventory
- Return props to their correct storage positions after every rehearsal and performance.
- Keep prop tables, workshops, storage areas, and backstage technical spaces clean and organized.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventories of props, tools, materials, and consumables.
- Help label, protect, pack, transport, and store delicate or specialty items correctly.
- Follow all procedures for the secure handling of valuable or artistically sensitive props.
Safety and Teamwork
- Follow all production safety procedures, risk assessments, and backstage protocols.
- Handle props, tools, chemicals, and technical equipment safely and responsibly.
- Work collaboratively with the props, stage, wardrobe, technical, and artistic teams.
- Maintain silence, concentration, and professional backstage conduct during performances.
- Participate in technical training, emergency procedures, and production briefings.
- Perform other reasonable duties related to the technical operation of the production.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in theatre, live entertainment, events, workshops, carpentry, fabrication, or a related environment is preferred.
- Basic hands-on ability with tools, repairs, painting, carpentry, or general maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to repeat tasks consistently.
- Ability to follow instructions, cue sheets, and backstage procedures accurately.
- Willingness to learn theatrical prop preparation, operation, and maintenance.
- Ability to remain calm and focused during live performances.
- Physically able to lift, carry, move, and position props safely.
- Reliable, punctual, disciplined, and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Basic spoken English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
Working Conditions
- This position operates on a five-day working week.
- Evening, weekend, and public-holiday work may be required based on the production schedule.
- The role involves standing for extended periods and lifting or moving props and technical equipment.
- Working hours will follow the production’s rehearsal, performance, maintenance, and event schedules.
- Flexibility will be required during rehearsals, the opening period, and special performances.
