As Junior Safety Manager, you will support our Safety Management Team and the QSHE Manager in ensuring safe and compliant railway operations. In doing so, you will draw on your practical experience in railway operations and play an active role in our Safety Management System (SMS), operational monitoring and the further development of our safety and QSHE processes.

Rail Force One Germany, based in Duisburg, specialises in freight transport with our reliable train drivers and high-performance trains, ensuring that freight arrives safely at its destination.

 

Your responsibilities will include

Supporting the SMV and the QSHE Manager in ensuring safe and compliant railway operations

Implementing, monitoring and further developing the Safety Management System (SMS)

Drawing up and maintaining operational regulations, procedures and SMS documentation

Planning and carrying out audits, inspections and operational monitoring

Investigating and analysing the causes of safety-related incidents and deriving preventive measures

Support with risk management and the assessment of hazards

Ensuring the qualifications, competence and authorisation of operational staff, and coordinating further training

Participation in management reviews, setting safety objectives and improving safety performance

Collaboration with internal departments, public authorities, partners and external organisations

Requirements: What you should bring to this role

Training as a Local Operations Manager (ÖBL) or a comparable qualification in railway operations

Qualification as a train driver in accordance with the TfV, with a valid driving licence

Several years’ practical experience in railway operations and a good knowledge of relevant regulations

Experience with safety management systems (SMS) as well as in risk and incident management

Ideally, experience with audits, operational monitoring and safety-related documentation

Good command of German and English, and a willingness to undertake occasional business travel

A structured, responsible and safety-oriented approach to work

Good communication and teamwork skills, as well as an interest in professional development within safety management

A communicative and cooperative personality who enjoys working with different departments and contacts

A proactive attitude and an interest in further developing your expertise in safety management
