Job description
THE POSITION For our Offshore Energy business unit, we are looking for an experienced Communication Advisor who acts as the link between the business and the Stakeholders & Sustainability (STS) department, where communications, public affairs, stakeholder management and sustainability come together.
You will develop communication and stakeholder engagement plans, advise internal and external stakeholders, and translate societal, political and reputational developments into clear communication and practical guidance. In this role, you combine strategic insight with a hands-on mindset you not only advise but also actively contribute to execution.
YOUR IMPACT Through your communication approach, you make complex offshore energy topics, such as offshore wind, understandable, relevant and visible. You create focus in key messages, identify opportunities and risks, and ensure communication contributes to trust, engagement and Van Oord’s reputation and positioning.
You will do this by
- Developing communication and stakeholder engagement plans aligned with the priorities of the Offshore Energy business unit.
- Translating strategic themes into clear and compelling messages for a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Managing communication projects from start to finish, including the communication approach for exhibitions, events and key external moments.
- Developing content, copy and visual materials that effectively convey the desired message.
- Coordinating communication activities and aligning project and programme planning through the communication calendar.
YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT You will become part of Van Oord’s Stakeholders & Sustainability (STS) department. Within STS, communications, public affairs, stakeholder management and sustainability work together to strengthen Van Oord’s positioning, both internally and externally.
You will work closely with colleagues across STS and with the Offshore Energy business unit, which is primarily based in Gorinchem. As a result, you will regularly work from both our Gorinchem and Rotterdam offices.
About You You are an experienced communication advisor who can work independently and switch easily between different topics, audiences and communication channels. You thrive in a complex, project-driven environment and are a confident sparring partner for business stakeholders and colleagues across disciplines.
You are proactive, pragmatic and results-oriented, with the ability to connect people, ideas and expertise. You communicate clearly and write engaging, audience-focused content.
In addition, you bring
- A bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in Communications or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a communication advisor in a corporate, business-to-business and/or business-to-government environment.
- Experience in a technical, project-driven or international sector is considered an advantage.
- Excellent command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- Strong organisational and connecting skills, with the ability to maintain an overview and effectively bring together people, content and communication channels.
- The motivation to collaborate with colleagues, actively involve relevant expertise and build support for communication initiatives and decisions.
WE OFFER This is your opportunity to make a visible contribution to projects that support the energy transition while developing your career in an international environment. What do we offer you
- A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience.
- Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.45 per day).
- 32 holidays, of which a maximum of 7 are collective.
- Variable bonus, partly dependent on company results.
- Attractive pension scheme.
- Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package).
- Extensive development opportunities, including a comprehensive online academy via GoodHabitz.
- Communities to join, such as Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association.
- Various events and sports activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling and motorcycling.
