IT Engineer – Infrastructure, Cloud & Software Development
Job Description
We are looking for a versatile IT Engineer responsible for managing and supporting the company’s IT infrastructure, cloud environment, databases, backup and recovery systems, end-user technical support, and internal software development.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server, networking, backups and disaster recovery, while also being capable of developing and maintaining applications using C#/.NET.
This is a hybrid technical role combining IT infrastructure, cloud administration, database management, software development, automation, and technical support. The successful candidate will also help establish proper self-service processes and coordinate with external vendors for non-technical facilities and hardware-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Manage and maintain on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure (Azure, GCP).
- Provision, configure, secure, and maintain Windows/Linux Servers and Virtual Machines.
- Monitor server performance, availability, storage, and system health.
- Manage users, access permissions, security policies, and system configurations.
- Troubleshoot operating system, application, network, and infrastructure issues.
- Maintain reliable and secure IT services across the organization.
- Coordinate with external vendors for hardware, networking, printers, and infrastructure maintenance.
2. Microsoft Azure Cloud
- Manage company infrastructure and workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- Deploy and maintain Azure Virtual Machines, storage, networking, and related services.
- Monitor Azure resources, performance, availability, and costs.
- Implement appropriate security and access controls.
- Manage cloud environments across development, UAT, and production.
- Assist with Azure-based application deployments and infrastructure improvements.
- Support cloud migration and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
3. SQL Server & Database Administration
- Install, configure, maintain, and monitor Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Manage databases, users, permissions, backups, and maintenance jobs.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot SQL Server issues.
- Investigate locking, blocking, performance bottlenecks, and resource utilization.
- Perform database optimization and basic query/index tuning.
- Support developers with database architecture and SQL-related issues.
- Maintain database availability, integrity, and security.
4. Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery
- Manage and monitor server and database backup systems.
- Ensure critical company data is backed up according to defined schedules.
- Regularly verify backup integrity and perform recovery tests.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Support recovery of servers, databases, applications, and files when required.
- Maintain appropriate retention and recovery policies.
- Identify potential points of failure and recommend improvements.
5. C# / .NET Software Development
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance internal business applications.
- Develop applications and APIs using C# and .NET / .NET Core.
- Work with ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, SQL Server, and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot and improve existing applications.
- Develop automation tools and internal utilities to reduce repetitive manual work.
- Participate in application architecture, database design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Support integration between internal systems and third-party services.
- Maintain clean, secure, maintainable, and production-ready code.
6. Application & Web Hosting
- Deploy and maintain internal and external web applications.
- Manage application hosting environments and IIS where applicable.
- Configure SSL certificates, domains, application pools, and related services.
- Monitor application availability and troubleshoot production issues.
- Support deployment pipelines and application releases.
- Maintain and troubleshoot company websites and web-based systems.
7. Networking & Security
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, internet connectivity, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and related issues.
- Monitor network reliability and identify infrastructure problems.
- Implement basic security controls across servers, endpoints, and cloud environments.
- Manage firewall, proxy, access control, and security configurations where applicable.
- Maintain SSL/TLS certificates and investigate connectivity/security issues.
- Follow security best practices for servers, applications, databases, and cloud resources.
8. Technical Support & End-User Assistance
- Provide technical support for genuine hardware, software, network, and system issues.
- Troubleshoot computers, laptops, monitors, printers, peripherals, and business applications.
- Manage user accounts, access, permissions, and technical onboarding/offboarding.
- Establish self-service processes for common user requests.
- Document recurring issues and create knowledge-base/self-service guides.
- Avoid unnecessary manual intervention where an automated or self-service solution is available.
9. IT Automation & Process Improvement
- Identify repetitive IT tasks and automate them where practical.
- Develop internal tools using C#/.NET, PowerShell, APIs, or other appropriate technologies.
- Automate reporting, user administration, system monitoring, and routine IT processes.
- Improve operational efficiency through automation and self-service solutions.
- Identify opportunities to reduce dependency on manual IT support.
10. Vendor & IT Asset Coordination
- Coordinate with external IT vendors for technical services and maintenance.
- Maintain records of IT equipment, licenses, systems, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate hardware repairs and warranty-related issues.
- Escalate specialized hardware or facilities issues to the appropriate vendor or department.
- Ensure IT-related vendors meet agreed service requirements.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience in IT infrastructure and system administration.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
- Practical experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Strong programming experience in C# and .NET / .NET Core.
- Experience developing REST APIs and web applications.
- Good understanding of Windows Server and IIS.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical responsibilities.
Good to have:
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104 / AZ-204.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD.
- Docker and containerization experience.
- PowerShell scripting.
- Git/GitHub.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and endpoint security.
- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions.
- Experience with automation/RPA.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience with high-availability and disaster-recovery environments.
