IT Engineer – Infrastructure, Cloud & Software Development

Job Description

We are looking for a versatile IT Engineer responsible for managing and supporting the company’s IT infrastructure, cloud environment, databases, backup and recovery systems, end-user technical support, and internal software development.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server, networking, backups and disaster recovery, while also being capable of developing and maintaining applications using C#/.NET.

This is a hybrid technical role combining IT infrastructure, cloud administration, database management, software development, automation, and technical support. The successful candidate will also help establish proper self-service processes and coordinate with external vendors for non-technical facilities and hardware-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Infrastructure & Systems Administration

  1. Manage and maintain on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure (Azure, GCP).
  2. Provision, configure, secure, and maintain Windows/Linux Servers and Virtual Machines.
  3. Monitor server performance, availability, storage, and system health.
  4. Manage users, access permissions, security policies, and system configurations.
  5. Troubleshoot operating system, application, network, and infrastructure issues.
  6. Maintain reliable and secure IT services across the organization.
  7. Coordinate with external vendors for hardware, networking, printers, and infrastructure maintenance.

2. Microsoft Azure Cloud

  1. Manage company infrastructure and workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure.
  2. Deploy and maintain Azure Virtual Machines, storage, networking, and related services.
  3. Monitor Azure resources, performance, availability, and costs.
  4. Implement appropriate security and access controls.
  5. Manage cloud environments across development, UAT, and production.
  6. Assist with Azure-based application deployments and infrastructure improvements.
  7. Support cloud migration and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

3. SQL Server & Database Administration

  1. Install, configure, maintain, and monitor Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  2. Manage databases, users, permissions, backups, and maintenance jobs.
  3. Monitor database performance and troubleshoot SQL Server issues.
  4. Investigate locking, blocking, performance bottlenecks, and resource utilization.
  5. Perform database optimization and basic query/index tuning.
  6. Support developers with database architecture and SQL-related issues.
  7. Maintain database availability, integrity, and security.

4. Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery

  1. Manage and monitor server and database backup systems.
  2. Ensure critical company data is backed up according to defined schedules.
  3. Regularly verify backup integrity and perform recovery tests.
  4. Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  5. Support recovery of servers, databases, applications, and files when required.
  6. Maintain appropriate retention and recovery policies.
  7. Identify potential points of failure and recommend improvements.

5. C# / .NET Software Development

  1. Design, develop, maintain, and enhance internal business applications.
  2. Develop applications and APIs using C# and .NET / .NET Core.
  3. Work with ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, SQL Server, and related technologies.
  4. Troubleshoot and improve existing applications.
  5. Develop automation tools and internal utilities to reduce repetitive manual work.
  6. Participate in application architecture, database design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  7. Support integration between internal systems and third-party services.
  8. Maintain clean, secure, maintainable, and production-ready code.

6. Application & Web Hosting

  1. Deploy and maintain internal and external web applications.
  2. Manage application hosting environments and IIS where applicable.
  3. Configure SSL certificates, domains, application pools, and related services.
  4. Monitor application availability and troubleshoot production issues.
  5. Support deployment pipelines and application releases.
  6. Maintain and troubleshoot company websites and web-based systems.

7. Networking & Security

  1. Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, internet connectivity, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and related issues.
  2. Monitor network reliability and identify infrastructure problems.
  3. Implement basic security controls across servers, endpoints, and cloud environments.
  4. Manage firewall, proxy, access control, and security configurations where applicable.
  5. Maintain SSL/TLS certificates and investigate connectivity/security issues.
  6. Follow security best practices for servers, applications, databases, and cloud resources.

8. Technical Support & End-User Assistance

  1. Provide technical support for genuine hardware, software, network, and system issues.
  2. Troubleshoot computers, laptops, monitors, printers, peripherals, and business applications.
  3. Manage user accounts, access, permissions, and technical onboarding/offboarding.
  4. Establish self-service processes for common user requests.
  5. Document recurring issues and create knowledge-base/self-service guides.
  6. Avoid unnecessary manual intervention where an automated or self-service solution is available.

9. IT Automation & Process Improvement

  1. Identify repetitive IT tasks and automate them where practical.
  2. Develop internal tools using C#/.NET, PowerShell, APIs, or other appropriate technologies.
  3. Automate reporting, user administration, system monitoring, and routine IT processes.
  4. Improve operational efficiency through automation and self-service solutions.
  5. Identify opportunities to reduce dependency on manual IT support.

10. Vendor & IT Asset Coordination

  1. Coordinate with external IT vendors for technical services and maintenance.
  2. Maintain records of IT equipment, licenses, systems, and infrastructure.
  3. Coordinate hardware repairs and warranty-related issues.
  4. Escalate specialized hardware or facilities issues to the appropriate vendor or department.
  5. Ensure IT-related vendors meet agreed service requirements.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Strong experience in IT infrastructure and system administration.
  3. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  4. Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  5. Practical experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
  6. Strong programming experience in C# and .NET / .NET Core.
  7. Experience developing REST APIs and web applications.
  8. Good understanding of Windows Server and IIS.
  9. Good understanding of networking fundamentals.
  10. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  11. Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical responsibilities.

Good to have:

  1. Azure certifications such as AZ-104 / AZ-204.
  2. Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD.
  3. Docker and containerization experience.
  4. PowerShell scripting.
  5. Git/GitHub.
  6. Knowledge of cybersecurity and endpoint security.
  7. Experience with monitoring and logging solutions.
  8. Experience with automation/RPA.
  9. Knowledge of cloud architecture and infrastructure-as-code.
  10. Experience with high-availability and disaster-recovery environments.
