ROLE CONTEXT

This role is intended for a recognized expert in industrial machine vision, responsible for anticipating technological trends and translating them into concrete solutions for our inspection products. The core of this role is vision applied to industry — vision system design, image processing algorithms, calibration and integration — rather than mechanical or dimensional metrology in the broader sense.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

– Anticipate market trends in industrial vision science and translate them into core technologies and platform solutions to further secure the company’s inspection business leadership

– Be a technical vision referent for the Engineering team on any new and innovative challenge they may face

– Propose new industrial vision solutions to any challenge raised by customers

Vision system design and architecture

– Design cost-efficient, robust and high-performance industrial vision system architectures that can be integrated across the full product portfolio

– Define technology choices across the full vision chain: cameras (area-scan, line-scan, 3D), optics and lenses, industrial illumination, sensors, acquisition electronics

– Design and specify image processing algorithms and vision software (detection, measurement, classification, quality control) suited to industrial throughput and accuracy constraints

Calibration and implementation

– Define and oversee vision system calibration processes (camera, lighting, full optical chain)

– Ensure the repeatability, reliability and measurement accuracy of vision-based measurements in an industrial production context

Technology scouting and innovation

– Perform active technology scouting and forecasting on emerging vision technologies: sensors, AI applied to vision, smart illumination, advanced optics

– Assess new vision technology building blocks and define the strategy for know-how acquisition (build vs. buy vs. partnership)

– Conduct studies and experimental trials in the vision science domain, and present results in a clear, structured and synthetic way
