Head of Inventory & Operations

LAGGAR is looking for an experienced Head of Inventory & Operations to take ownership of our inventory, product operations, fulfillment, quality control, and vendor coordination.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will initially work closely with the existing team to establish strong systems and processes, with the responsibility of building and managing the department as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Stock Control

* Take full ownership of inventory accuracy across warehouse, retail, and online operations.

* Manage receiving, stock movements, transfers, labeling, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.

* Establish and manage regular cycle counts and full inventory reconciliations.

* Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective measures.

* Maintain accurate SKU, barcode, and inventory records across systems.

* Develop and improve warehouse organization and stock-control procedures.

Inventory Planning & Replenishment

* Analyze sales and inventory performance by product, model, size, variation, and location.

* Identify fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-performing inventory.

* Monitor stock cover and identify potential stock-outs before they occur.

* Recommend replenishment quantities and timing based on sales performance, inventory levels, lead times, and seasonality.

* Recommend stock transfers and allocation between locations based on demand.

* Provide management with clear, data-backed purchasing and replenishment recommendations.

Production & Vendor Coordination

* Manage operational communication with production and supply vendors following order approval.

* Maintain production and purchase-order trackers covering quantities, SKUs, deadlines, and delivery status.

* Proactively follow up with vendors to ensure production and replenishment remain on schedule.

* Identify potential delays early and provide solutions before they affect sales.

* Coordinate packaging and operational supply orders, including boxes, bags, labels, dust bags, and other materials.

* Establish minimum stock levels and reorder points for operational supplies.

Quality Control

* Establish and maintain clear product QC standards and checklists.

* Oversee quality inspection of incoming production.

* Identify, document, and report defects and production inconsistencies.

* Maintain defect records by product, supplier, and production batch.

* Coordinate corrective actions, replacements, and resolutions with vendors.

* Analyze recurring quality issues and work with production partners to reduce them.

E-commerce, Fulfillment & Returns

* Oversee the complete online order fulfillment process from order receipt through dispatch and delivery.

* Ensure accurate picking, QC, packing, labeling, and courier handover.

* Oversee operational customer communication relating to online orders, deliveries, tracking, exchanges, and returns.

* Manage returned products, inspection, inventory adjustments, exchanges, and restocking.

* Analyze return reasons and identify recurring product or operational issues.

* Maintain high fulfillment accuracy and on-time dispatch performance.

Systems & Process Development

* Review existing inventory and operational processes and continuously improve them.

* Introduce appropriate inventory controls, barcode/scanning systems, automation, dashboards, and reporting tools.

* Develop SOPs covering receiving, QC, stock movements, fulfillment, returns, and inventory control.

* Reduce dependency on manual processes and individual employees.

* Ensure systems are scalable as the company grows and additional operations are introduced.

Reporting & Analysis

Provide management with regular reporting covering:

* Inventory accuracy

* Stock levels and stock cover

* Best and slowest-selling products

* Size and product performance

* Replenishment recommendations

* Incoming production and purchase orders

* Production/vendor delays

* Inventory discrepancies

* QC and defect rates

* Returns and exchanges

* Fulfillment performance

* Packaging and operational stock requirements

The Head of Inventory & Operations should not only report problems but identify risks early and recommend clear actions and solutions.

Team Leadership

* Assess manpower requirements based on operational volume.

* Build the inventory, warehouse, and fulfillment team as the business grows.

* Define responsibilities, workflows, and accountability across the department.

* Train and supervise team members.

* Establish measurable KPIs and performance standards.

* Remain willing to work hands-on when operationally required.

Candidate Profile

* Strong experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, retail operations, supply chain, or a related field.

* Previous experience managing a team or taking ownership of an inventory/operations function.

* Strong understanding of inventory planning, replenishment, stock reconciliation, and cycle counting.

* Experience coordinating with suppliers, factories, procurement teams, or production partners.

* Strong analytical ability and confidence working with inventory and sales data.

* Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.

* Experience with ERP, WMS, inventory management, and e-commerce systems.

* Shopify experience is an advantage.

* Experience with retail, fashion, footwear, leather goods, luxury goods, or consumer products is preferred.

* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

* Comfortable working in a growing business where systems and processes must be built and improved.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who goes beyond maintaining stock records.

The right candidate should be able to understand what is selling, what needs to be reordered, when it needs to be reordered, where inventory should be allocated, what is causing discrepancies or quality issues, and how the overall operation can be improved.
