MMIC Design Manager

Our client is a leading technology business developing advanced RF, microwave and mmWave solutions for high-performance electronic systems. Their work supports demanding applications across areas such as communications, 5G/6G, aerospace, defence, automotive, AI infrastructure and semiconductor technology.

They are looking for an MMIC Design Manager to lead a specialist engineering group working on next-generation RF/mmWave integrated circuits and advanced System-in-Package technologies.

The role The MMIC Design Manager will lead a team of engineers focused on the design, development and delivery of RF/mmWave IC and SiP technologies across platforms such as GaAs, GaN and InP.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence over technical direction, product architecture and future technology roadmaps. You will be involved in taking complex RF/mmWave concepts through design, validation, packaging, and transition towards production.

Key Areas Of Responsibility Include

• Leading and developing a team of MMIC and SiP design engineers
• Driving RF/mmWave circuit and package development across multiple semiconductor technologies
• Supporting technical project planning, resource allocation, timelines and budgets
• Working closely with internal R&D groups, product teams, fabrication partners and packaging vendors
• Improving design methodologies, workflows and engineering processes
• Balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, schedule and scalability
• Contributing to future technology strategy and product architecture planning
• Mentoring engineers and supporting their technical development

What They Are Looking For The ideal MMIC Design Manager will have strong technical depth in RF/mmWave circuit design, alongside proven experience leading engineers or complex R&D programmes.

You Should Bring Experience Across Areas Such As

• RF, microwave or mmWave IC design
• MMIC technologies such as GaAs, GaN or InP
• Advanced packaging or System-in-Package integration
• Technical leadership, team management or senior-level mentoring
• Taking high-frequency products from concept through to validation or production
• Working with fabrication houses, packaging partners or external technology suppliers
• RF measurement, device modelling or validation methodologies

A background in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is expected. A PhD would be beneficial, but is not essential.
